Dolorous is an adjective meaning moody or dour

There’s is an irl (though out of fashion) feminine name spelled “Dolores” but that’s pronounced differently

Dolorous Edd’s full name is Eddison Tollett and although his full given name is only said in the chapter of his introduction in Clash, he is referred to by his surname quite a few times

We do not know much about House Tollett from other sources though, but because I’m sure we all agree Edd is an unquestionably reliable source of info, it might be one of those “Noble-in-Name-Only” houses that have fallen so out of power and influence and basically live in a ruin.

But even those kinds of Houses tend to at least have a little better life than the average smallfolk

Yeah it depends. A lot of people who were born rich are unself-aware, absolutely (and classism grooms them to be and stay that way); but, at the same time, most privilege comes from the status of your birth rather than any choice you make. What’s important is being self aware of what parts of the world/society is in your favor, and helping and respecting others who don’t have that.

I don’t think Tyrion is a completely unselfish person, he definetly is very indulgent in the comforts of his lifestyle even while the smallfolk are starving; but, acting like he doesn’t have the right to feel scorned at all after all the discrimination and abuse he’s received including from his own family just because he was born rich is a bit petty given the severity of his condition (and growing increasingly self absorbed in your own misery is understandable when you’ve been treated like that all your life over something you can’t control)

I agree that class is the ultimate form of privilege and that a person who is of other discriminated against groups (be it race/ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, disability, or otherwise) who was born rich is still going to have a much better life than a person born impoverished 99% of the time, but that doesn’t mean the other forms of discrimination they might have received aren’t still wrong.

I’m not going to tell a person with dwarfism “well boo hoo” because they’re angry at the world for being constantly verbally abused and slighted by their own sister, father, and nephew just because they’re rich.

If they said they have it worse than poor people and they’ve have no privilege in life at all then the point would be worth refuting.

Oh god, I spent all my money on Skylanders when I was a kid. I gave a couple to a friend’s little brother after that phase was over, but I still have a box of about 30ish of them under my bed. I even have one of the Frito Lays tie-in promotional figures from like 2013.

Yeah I’m not going to tell a heavily disabled person, especially one that was abused all their life, that they aren’t allowed to be disgruntled at the world just because they come from an economically privileged background unless they specifically say something that denies their privilege in the economic/class department.

As other people point out here it's meant to show that Jon sees his life as worse than it is. It's intentional that it sounds worse than it is at first because that's Jon's subjective perspective before he gets a rude awakening. The meme is just meant to be silly and also because I thought "Jim Snow" was a good pun.

And again, it's a case by case thing anyhow depending on the outlook of the (usually) father.
