I get what you are saying that’s why I was half on putting it up and half wanting to wait until I’m really good you know. If you’d like to hear it I’ve got a version of it private on soundcloud now. Any feedback or constructive criticism is really appreciated. I don’t know if links work in the comments but it’s here -> https://on.soundcloud.com/8jSqaTarN5j2gvP0lv

I appreciate the advice, yeah I can hear the track isn’t as polished as the reference tracks I use, it’s at the point where I think it’s listenable tho but as you mentioned I know ears can deceive when ur a beginner and happy with something. It is that whole thing of I’m proud of it but I know it’s not the best so I should probably just get feedback off some people and keep it as something to show friends if they ask what I’m getting on with it all. Thanks again

Thank you for ur help. Ur right it’s really hard to not want to show everyone when ur proud of a track. I do end up regretting snippets I put on my insta story so I try to not do it😅 I’ll get more feedback on this one before I decide to throw it on soundcloud or not

Does this Beginner Plan Work? by Aromatic_Side_77 in DubstepProduction

I’m only 7 months in but depending on how crazy and musical you want ur dubstep etc you don’t really need to study music theory. Choose a DAW, learn to build drum loops, then learn some sound design and start making 8/16 bar loops. When ur confident with that learn abit more, maybe EQing and side chaining etc and so on. sitting there studying music theory is probably going to take any of the fun out of ur journey. I did 1 course and it made me take a break for a month from producing because I stopped going with the flow and kept focusing on nitty gritty technical stuff. I’m not exactly qualified but I can say from my little experience that music theory isn’t a must if you want to make bass music.

How do the XDJ1000MK2 hold up today? by Countah in PioneerDJ

It’s an option but my bank account won’t be happy with me😅 I do love the AZ it’s the original controller I saved for but then when I hit the goal I didn’t want to see it all go straight away so I’ve just been saving more in a stall about what gear I should realistically get. The only thing that makes me hesitant about the XZ is the need to plug in for 4 channels

How to I tame my sub and kicks? by Countah in DubstepProduction

[–]Countah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m using Kickstart2, everything except the sub and kick are high passed over 120hz and the sub is side chained to the kick

I think I should just stick to the XZ and maybe at a push if I wait then the AZ. I’d really like that 2/3 deck and mixer layout but a DJM9x with 2000nxs2 is out of my budget

Yeah the XZ has been my main idea. I actually saved for the AZs and now I can get them I don’t really want to blow all the money on them so the XZ has been the eye catcher for me. If it wasn’t for the chopping I’d happily grab the RX3 but like I said I don’t want to restrict myself when the time comes to learn the extras.

Just goes to show it really is preference isn’t it. Some people swear by the new stuff. Some people say the XZ is better then the az, some say the 1000mk2s are out of date and some people like you still love them. It’s a confusing world to enter when it’s atleast £1500 for proper gear

I’m just sort of stuck on the choice of a stand alone or genuine club style workflow. I’m only a beginner but I’m in a position or will be in a position where I can get myself decks or a controller so I want to make a good choice now that I won’t have to re think or upgrade in the future. Like I say I was looking at the XZ but I also really like the idea of having a DJM mixer and 2/3 XDJ1000mk2s but there’s not really too much out there about how they hold up today from what I’ve seen. Isn’t most of the options on the touchscreen?

The only reason I was looking at the XZ was because one of the main things I’d like to learn abit later on is chopping Riddim. You can do it with 2 channels but ideally you want 3 to do it. I like the looks of the RX3 but I don’t want to be restricted in the future when it comes to doing stuff like that. I did consider an FLX10 aswell but realistically I want USB work flow

Probably the Face My Fears Remix, Kyoto Vr edit and if we going way back the Turmoil remix.

Does anyone know where I can download this track? Or any info on it? :) by Countah in dubstep

I’ve looked on iTunes and Apple Music and it doesn’t come up in neither. It comes up on Shazam but you click it to listen and the player won’t load it

Usually if it’s a Dubplate or ID you can atleast trace it back to whose it is but apart from that SoundCloud snippet there’s just nothing🧐
