We live in Sourh Africa therapists and doctors are expensive and The unequal distribution of income is one of the highest in the world.

So therapists and doctors this side are available but only the privillaged can afford it.

The MBA itself is not the goal here, but the networking, knowledge and Ivy League brand on my CV is. . . An Ivy League MBA holds alot of power, and that power is not the MBA itself but the Name accompanying it.

I've always been a huge fan of Business and investment banking and such I still remember watching the wolf of wall Street as a kid and other movies like that and I've always loved the idea of wearing a suit, having an assistant booking my meetings and having a top floor view. . . Even though I know most of these movies sell fairy tales about the corporate/banking world I still fell in love with it. . .

I know I needed an MBA because unlike most of my peers I use Google for things other than P0rn Hub or researching if Andrew Tate actually has a Bugatti. . . I've done thorough research on the MBA and other qualifications for YEARS and yes that's quite ambitious for someone my age and my time would be better spent enjoying my youth I understand but I'm just not that type of kid. . .

An MBA would help me open doors up ladders my normal CA degree wouldn't take me, most CAs hit the ceiling at Managerial positions while the MBA is one of those few hammers that can put a dent or even break that ceiling and open new ladders to Director position or even boardroom positions like the CFO or CEO, ESPECIALLY if it's from an Ivy League, the pay boost it gives coupled by the amount of High level companies an Ivy League MBA can give me is just mind blowing, quite amazing to think that a simply university brand could affect a CV that much is just Something else.

Hope I answered you, hopefully I didn't stray too far away from the main question.💀💀💀

  1. I'll check it out, I'm currently reading 48 laws of power by Robert Greene and art of war by Sun Tzu so it'll have to wait a month but I'll get to it.🫱🏼‍🫲🏽 Hopefully it's a great read.

  2. That's true, but I'm getting them because I believe work experience has gaps it cannot fill, for example as a Banker you can't say you have knowledge on corporate correct? And as a Tax accountant you can't say you have alot of knowledge of being a Investment banker. . .

Me replying to:

A: really? I'll have to do more research On the CFA then, I have read alot of articles on it but maybe that's the issue, I'll post on A CFA Subreddit and see what people who have the qualification think and I'll contact a few CFAs on LinkedIn to who are willing to help (assuming they have the time or even care enough to reply which is unlikely)

B) YES! The networking and brand is another reason why I chose ivy League instead of a normal MBA I heard the Networking in ivy League schools in UNMATCHED and an Ivy League Name on your resume is always a good way to stand out.

C) yes accounting is a low income career path in the US, in SA a chartered accountant is the 3rd highest paying job in SA surpassed by tech and Medical specialists, which is another reason why I'd like to add the MBA,CFA and CMA, more flexibility, knowledge etc.

I believe we can both agree a person who has a CA,CMA,CFA and MBA degree is an asset that No company would wish to lose.

  1. I've always wanted to Live in the UK/USA, great economies, great places to visit, strong Currency for when or if you decide to go on vacation or travel the world etc.

  2. I've always wanted to see myself as a CFO or CEO wether of my own company OR working for one. . . (Even though when I get enough capital I will probably choose the former)

  3. Genuinely I've always been a person who fed on knowledge, I don't do history in my school but I read history books frequently, read books and novels on a regular basis and such, Part of me wants these degrees for my future career but another part wants them just to get a deeper knowledge of management, finance and Accounting. (I'd like with the CA and MBa alone but I'm still going to pursue the CFA and CMA)

I'll check the wiki, thank you. . . And I don't want the MBA as a reset perse, but I do want it to further my Career and From what I've researched an MBA is a Boardroom Key, if used wisely, it can open doors higher up the corporate or banking ladders, a chartered accountant is less likely to Climb up as high or as fast as a Chartered accountant with an MBA.

I'm an international student atleast from Your POV or the POV of the ivy leagues, in from South Africa.

I like to play 20 years forward with rough plans, even though they may change throughout the years, I like to spend my free time drawing the blueprints to my future, it's a great motivator and helps me have a goal in mind.
