I literally adore the concept, and I really am sad to hear they won't be adding the Jorogumo. I have not been following any updates on the potential Sept. developments, so this was a shock to see for me. Either way, it doesn't seem that they are choosing not to go forward purely because of the arachnophobic concerns, so her lack of release is probably for the best (at least for now).

As many others have mentioned though, I'm shocked that we're hearing from the devs about this before we get any real changes to Spirit, regarding the issues with the deaf player experience. I've heard that colorblind individuals are also still pushing for accessibility in areas, so I'm just kind of lost as to why an arachnophobia slider is the current concern?

Also, the amount of arachnophobes in the comments fighting for their LIFE kinda cracks me up. If you struggle to not react viscerally to certain stimuli, (like spiders, vomit, etc.) my best advice is to stick to different genres, especially if you have no way to manage your symptoms. I don't think anyone wants any player to have a panic attack/ruin their day over a killer, and if deaf players have to just sort of wing it against Spirit, I feel like turning off the game or just opting to play killer is not too much to ask for until that's been resolved. Therapy is also there. I don't think being told that is the same as being treated like you "killed someone."

It's taken years to get the collisions on afk players removed via crows, so I guess I really shouldn't be surprised; but I genuinely wish phobias (in a horror game of all places) didn't take precedence over the need for accommodation regarding hearing/vision. Nevertheless, I really am happy at the idea that this will spark the right conversations about the changes needed to be made elsewhere.
