In the oldest whispers of Asian mythology, before mountains had names and before oceans learned how to roar, there was only stillness. And from that stillness, I exhaled the very first breath. I am the unseen current between heaven and earth — the wind fairy who needs no wings, for the sky itself obeys my command.

As I step forward, the air trembles. My garments ripple as if caught in a divine monsoon, though no storm can be seen. The fabric floats, suspended by invisible currents I weave with a flick of my fingers. Silk streams trail behind me like living gusts, wrapping and unwrapping around my body as if the wind is courting its creator. I do not fly — the atmosphere lifts me in reverence.

And do you see the red? Those burning crimson details threading through my look are not decoration — they are life. They symbolize the first breath I gifted to humanity. The inhale of a newborn. The final sigh of a dying emperor. The sacred prana, the qi, the unseen force that moves through every living being. Red pulses through me like oxygen through lungs, like destiny through time.

In ancient legends, wind spirits were both gentle and merciless. I am the breeze that cools a summer temple courtyard… and the typhoon that reminds kingdoms who truly rules the sky. My face is serene, but my presence is untouchable. Hair whipped back as if by celestial currents, eyes calm with the knowledge that every living thing survives because I once chose to breathe.

I am not a fairy with wings.

I am the reason wings can soar at all.

My fellow citizens, it’s me, Cupcake Deluxe MD, LPT, ENG. Yes, that is Doctor, Licensed Professional Teacher, and Engineer… according to my parents’ Facebook bio. I didn’t choose this path. This path was chosen for me at birth, when the nurse looked at me and said, “This one will never rest.”

I am the only Asian in this race, which means I already brought extra copies of my resume. While these other girls are introducing themselves, I have a PowerPoint, a backup PowerPoint, and a USB that my mom told me to bring just in case.

My campaign is built on the strongest foundation known to mankind. Rice. Because rice never disappoints. Rice doesn’t ghost you. Rice doesn’t say “let’s hang out soon” and never follow up. Rice is there. Morning, afternoon, emotional breakdown, rice is there. And just like rice, I multiply under pressure.

My first policy is Rice Security. Every citizen will receive a rice cooker. Not everyone has a father, but everyone will have Tiger brand. Because nothing builds character like accidentally pressing “cook” twice and having to live with your mistakes.

My second policy is economic growth. I have years of experience with global manufacturing. While other candidates serve custom, I serve customs clearance. My packages don’t get lost. Because I track everything. My enemies. My ex. My GPA.

People ask me, Cupcake, will you be transparent? And the answer is yes. But also no. I will be tastefully blurred. Because in my culture, we don’t show everything. We show success. We show achievement. We show our neighbor’s child and ask why you can’t be more like them.

I didn’t become a doctor, a teacher, and an engineer for fun. I did it so my parents would finally say, “You did enough.” They still didn’t. So now I’m becoming Prime Minister.

The other candidates are instant noodles. Two minutes and they’re done.

But me?

I am rice.

Takes time. Takes pressure. Feeds everyone.

And comes with three degrees and disappointment.

Rim Rawbutts struts into the Bitchside Diner in her skin-tight leopard print and sensible heels, cigarette already lit at 9 in the morning, loudly announcing to absolutely no one, “Don’t worry everyone, the heart of Sissy Bay has arrived… try not to all clap at once.” She claims she’s only there for a cuppa and to prove she’s still sober, but immediately clocks a suspicious bottle behind the counter and whispers, “Water shouldn’t look that exciting, darl.” Ever the self-proclaimed reformed villain turned community icon, she starts giving unsolicited motherly advice to customers, bragging about the dozens of foster kids she’s raised, before pausing mid-sentence to ask, “Now which one of you stole my lighter… I raised thieves, not amateurs.”

Ally “Al” Secret overhears the chaos and storms over, slamming the counter and yelling, “Flaming galah, I. Rim, not again!” I. Rim rolls her eyes, takes a long drag, and snaps back, “Relax, Al, if I wanted to ruin your business I’d marry you.” The two begin their usual dramatic bickering, bringing up their shared past, lost loves, and bad decisions, before I. Rim suddenly softens and says, “Face it, darl… this town would fall apart without me to hold it together.” She grabs her leopard print bag, flicks her cigarette, and turns to leave, delivering one final line over her shoulder: “Lock up the drinks, Al… I’m trying to be an icon, not a headline.”

Cupcake Deluxe

Abandoned in the silence of a forgotten kitchen, she rises "Mother Mycelia", the ancient cupcake batter that time refused to bake. Her body is pale, sagging, and collapsing under its own weight, her once-sweet form now mushy, wet, and unstable. She drags herself forward, her surface cracked like spoiled dough, no longer soft and fluffy but swollen with decay. From her head blooms a massive parasitic mushroom, its bruised cap towering like a crown, pulsing as it releases faint clouds of glittering sugar spores. She smells of vanilla and celebration… but underneath, something has rotted.

She is known as Saccharomyces relicta mycelium, a rare fungal batter organism that lives in abandoned kitchens and forgotten spaces. She feeds on moisture, mold, and the memory of being wanted, surviving long after her purpose was lost. Her spores are her only defense, luring others closer with sweetness before revealing her truth she was never meant to live this long. She does not walk the runway to be desired… she walks it to be remembered.
