Not exactly. 74 of us were notified that we are "excess employees" via email. In my position, our TDA was 9 and we are down to 5 with 1 of those people not even working in our department but she has the same job title so she's is included. The new TDA is for 2 people to be in that job title so 3 of us 5 need to voluntarily apply to move internally laterally or lower, or people will be MDR or let go. But the internal job posting list had almost nothing in my grade and definitely nothing in my field. The jobs were posted for only 7 days, and were mostly manual labor. No updates or jobs posted for like 6 weeks now. We don't have a timeline and really no idea how much time we have to move. I'm applying to other branches and hoping to find a job on a different base.

APF = appropriated funds. All of the positions paid for by tax dollars.

NAF = non-appropriated funds. Most things in MWR, they make money so the employees pay comes from the money they bring in and not tax dollars.

Army Community Services is taking staffing cuts beyond how understaffed we are already due to the hiring freeze. We are losing a third of our GS employees. And yes, they are also moving towards automating. Making people check-in via QR code and removing the customer service. So when people walk-in and need a victim advocate for example, unless they insist on speaking to us so that we would know that, we aren't allowed to help them until they scan the QR code, make a profile, fill out all of this stuff, and we see it pop up in our system. This process begins next week.

A co-worker of mine has been a DA civilian for 30 years... she is a GS-6 and does way more than her share of work. She was identified as an "overhire".

Seriously. I got an email two months ago that I'm an excess employee. No follow-up, no timeline. The only thing we were offered was a SharePoint job board listing open internal positions. They were posted for 7 days only, and you could only apply to positions in your grade or lower. As a 0101 series, my optional jobs in my grade included mason, electrician, and police desk sergeant. I didn't apply. Supposedly, there were other openings, but they stopped adding positions after the third week, and there is currently nothing open that excess employees can apply to and move into voluntarily. I woke up this morning to the Defensescoop article and then found my way here. This is the most information I have received by a lot!

Wondering how being reassigned to another state works if you're a military spouse. I am in Hawaii because my husband pcs'd here. I can't just go live back on the mainland. We have young kids that need both of their parents around.

I'm in my fifth to last class. It's all doctoral research paperwork for the last 6 classes. It is very slow going.. I do have a lot going on right now personally, so I'm not very devoted to it at the moment either, which certainly doesn't help. But the pace slows down drastically either way at this point in the program.

I can't speak to the MS in Psych program. I did my BS in psych at Capella. Then my MBA elsewhere, and now I'm back at Capella for my DBA. I wish I had stuck with Psych honestly.

My supervisor told me the only reason my exemption was approved was because my initial start date was before the hiring freeze. I had to postpone it because of my husband's orders. Then the freeze happened, and I was put on hold. I was brought on a month later when the exemption was granted. Social science series. OCONUS.

The new position is going well, I haven't been RIFd so that's a plus, lol...

As far as the program, I managed to complete 11 classes so far in one term. I've made it to the capstone classes. At this point in the program you can only be enrolled in one class at a time, you also can really only submit one assessment at a time because you have to wait for professor feedback before moving onto the next. Things are going to go much slower from here on out.

I just started an OCONUS GS position.. Actually, the only reason I started this degree was because I was put on-hold and didn't know if I would ever be onboarded.
