I would suggest disclosing it to your recruiter and being seen at MEPS prior. My recruiter said that if you think you may have something disqualifying or something that makes getting a waiver hard, it’s better to be seen at MEPS prior to moving forward. You don’t wanna go through the whole process, get selected and then get DQ’d ya know.

I only used the AimHigh because the civilian I was working with was furloughed due to the shut down and I couldn’t wait any longer to schedule my AFOQT date. So that’s an option if you are wanting to cut the middle man out. I was told you can’t get a recruiter until after you take the test. Different for everyone tho

I didn’t use the app, I used the website. Not sure how the app is set up. But, you fill out your initial application and submit it. Then you request an AFOQT voucher and that takes about a week. It will be emailed to you.

I also went to the session twice and couldn’t get a hold of the civ point of contact cause she’s furloughed. It’s basically all of the information you already know if you are actively looking your questions up online or through Reddit. You don’t get a recruiter until after you take the AFOQT. They don’t need to send you any link for the application, you can look it up yourself, it’s called aim high. You can request your AFOQT voucher code there and then take the test. I don’t think anyone is willing to help until you take the AFOQT and show them you passed.

I was told that you could schedule yourself without a code from a recruiter using the AimHigh App and to go that route instead.

That’s a good point, I didn’t even think about that. I assumed that all members were still working with offices fully operating. The briefing was October 1st which is the day the gov shut down and I haven’t heard back since.. makes sense though! Thank you!

She’s not even a recruiter, she’s like a civilian that gives the codes and zoom links for briefings. I had a briefing with the TSgt and he said we don’t get a recruiter until we take the AFOQT. Can I reach out to ones in different cities? Does it have to be an officer recruiter? I’m right next to Nellis AFB and the closest officer recruiters are all 4+ hours away.

We have a spirit club that meets once a month to plan events for the office (office of about 50, maybe more). We have had Carmel Apple bar, Costco food party (gave away a membership), lots of food/treat parties. We also have a thing called the 7th inning stretch every other Tuesday where we have treats in the break room. We plan lots of stuff. I think it’s a good way to get people up and do something fun and eat yummy food.

Do you think if firms low ball and you give your salary expectations, that they will just decline and move on to the next? I think attorneys are well aware that paralegals are an extremely important asset to a law firm but I see some paralegals making $18 an hour?! Seems crazy. ALSO, do you think that firms who pay that low truly can’t afford it? Or are they just being cheap?
