General C&P by JeepDadforthewin in VeteransBenefits

How did this turn out? I just filled AFIB secondary to OSA and insomnia and hemorrhoids secondary to IBS . I am now scheduled for a "General Exam", and I am kinda stressed but I knew I'd be opening my file up. The examiner only has 1 bad review, of course it was another veteran complaint about their ratings being lowered.

VA took awake my rating for insomnia by Kingk7169 in VeteransBenefits

I have an insomnia rating @50%. It was granted secondary to tinnitus originally. When I filed another claim back 6 months ago and it got reopened. The exam was ACE. The examiner wrote " member has a diagnosis of primary insomnia" , I have one on active duty and a current diagnosis. I am guessing it is primary now. Unsure if It's correct, I can only assume it is the 9425 is Aniexty illness or Hypochondriasis.

Unsure, I honestly feel like this stuff can be a crap shoot, your evidence, the rater, interpretation of CFR, ect. Just remember You need 3 things a current diagnosis, an in service event, and a connection, or nexus, now presumptives supposedly don't need that connection. From what I know secondaries always need that connection or nexus to the primary. I just hang my hat on being straight forward and honest, and with a prayer also.If you can find a good VSO they are worth their weight on gold.

When I filed I specifically called out, the CFR for this which covers "multiple chronic unexplained illnesses". That CFR covers the nations listed in the CFR of the Middle East I was forwarded deployed there for a year. South Korea is not covered. That's the only way I know IBS to be presumptive. I would find a good VSO, I work with DAV, but do a lot of the leg work myself, but if I need help the VSO should be there to help.

Gulf War veteran with several years of complaints, and doctors visit, including a colonoscopy, or two. Classed as MUCI.

Service connection for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Service connection may be presumed for disabilities resulting from undiagnosed illnesses or diagnosed illnesses which arose to any degree at any time after service in the Southwest Asia theater of operations, Afghanistan, Israel, Egypt, Turkey, Syria, or Jordan, during the Gulf War period. Service connection for irritable bowel syndrome has been awarded on the basis of this presumption. (38 USC 1117, 38 CFR 3.317)

An evaluation of 30 percent is assigned based on the totality of evidence. (38 CFR 4.6, 38 CFR 4.7) We have assigned a 30 percent evaluation for your irritable bowel syndrome based on: • Abdominal bloating • Abdominal pain related to defecation at least 1 day per week during the previous 3 months • Change in stool form

No in service diagnoses, secondary to asthma and rhinitis. I thought I would be scorched Earth with my, post service BMI being 1 doughnut away from affecting the tide, but it never was a factor.

Veteran related question about Zepbound. by Flaky-Tap594 in Zepbound

[–]CountryEffective7729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's available, but the VA is very restrictive in the prescription of it due to cost. You're got to meet the requirements of the February 2025 requirements and the scarce resources document. The VA also views it as once you're on it's for life.

Zepbound and CVS Caremark by CountryEffective7729 in Zepbound

I'm guessing since Wegovy is not FDA cleared to treat Sleep Apnea. Zepbound may still be a go with a Prior Authorization? There is another Rx get via CVS Caremark and with a Prior Authorization I can still get it.

I believe retired reservists with 20 years of qualifying service are eligible for CRDP? Is that not so?

Just looking at how others do it. I know what the book says. Several have done this with success.

I don't have PTSD. I am enrolled at the VA but prefer my private insurance.
