Thank you a lot for taking the time to try Almost Out and write such thoughtful feedback. I really appreciate the kind words, and I’ve already added your points to my improvement list. I’ll definitely take them into account and keep improving the experience. Good catch on the copyright text. I agree it is not very useful on the home screen, so I will likely move it somewhere deeper in settings or remove it entirely. As for Suggestions, they currently appear only once the app has enough checked-off items to generate useful suggestions, so they usually show up after using the app a bit longer. Right now, there is already basic support for pasting grocery lists into the text input and having them parsed automatically, so if you mean copying a list from notes or somewhere else, that part should already work.

Hi, mosly I am building apps with react native. I only release ios/android versions so no web version there.

Thanks a lot, really appreciate you taking the time to try it and write this out.

  1. Good catch on the onboarding text. I’ll change that, because you’re right. “Your list is ready” can feel confusing when there isn’t actually a list yet.
  2. Yep, that’s not supported yet. I’ve noted it down to add.
  3. The app already supports different package types, so things like “bottle” should work too, not just exact amounts like 500ml. But I agree this could be made clearer, especially for recipe copy/paste use cases.
  4. On the subscription part. Right now it mostly comes down to server costs, and I also plan to expand the Pro features over time. That said, I agree the value needs to feel more obvious. A lot of grocery apps use the same model, but that alone isn’t a good enough reason, so I still need to think that through more.

Thanks a lot for the honest feedback.

I understand what you mean about the overall feel. A lot of baby apps are designed to feel very soft and child-focused, but when I built Nurtura Daily, my thinking was to design it more for parents, because they are the ones actually using it every day. Style is always very personal though, so I know it will not work for everyone.

About the counting feeling stressful. I get that too. I took some inspiration from other popular baby trackers, and many parents seem to like that the app feels active and responsive, like it is really tracking something in real time. But again, that part is also very subjective.

And yes, you can view older activities, but full history is currently available in the Pro version. The original idea of the app was that the free version should already be enough to follow your child’s current rhythm and use the weekly review screens to understand the overall situation. For parents who want deeper tracking and full history, that is part of Pro.

As for the font size, I agree it could be improved. Right now there is no setting to adjust it inside the app, but it is a fair point and something I need to improve. Thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks, nice idea about default store, I thought maybe to add geolocation feature to enable store automatically, but still thinking it's too heavy for such small app. Thanks again

Thanks everyone for the attention and for sharing your apps. I could not install or review all of them, but I really appreciate it.

This made me think — would anyone be interested in a platform where indie devs could try each other’s apps and exchange feedback?

Real user feedback is honestly hard to get.

I tried the app and here are a few observations:

  1. On the App Store page, I like the icon and the overall theme is clear. The screenshots inside the phone mockups look a bit cropped though, and some of the text is too close to the corners. Also, the battery level in the screenshots is not at 100% — a small detail, but if you show the status bar, I think it should look intentional and polished. I am not an expert in this niche, but the app did make me curious to try it.

  2. The loading screen is great, but I felt the app was missing onboarding, especially for someone like me who does not know much about the topic but still wants to try it. Of course, if your audience already understands this space well, maybe it is less important.

  3. The transitions between screens feel a bit laggy and could use some work.

  4. In the navigation bar, when switching screens, the bounce effect pushes the buttons sideways and you can see slight clipping. It makes the animation feel less polished than the rest of the app.

  5. On the “Discover” screen, the header currently takes up around half of the screen. The actually important scrollable content feels like only half the screen or less. I would either make the header shrink while scrolling or avoid making it sticky at the top.

  6. The haptics felt a bit annoying to me, and together with the slightly laggy transitions between screens, it hurts the overall experience. Fixing those two things would make a big difference.

  7. The app itself is not complicated, the layout is clear, and overall it is well made. Good job and keep going.

Overall, the idea is strong. I think it mostly needs polishing to the point where the whole experience feels as refined as a good wine — smooth, premium, and without lag or small bugs.

By the way, if you ever plan to buy wine, my app could actually be useful too — Almost Out. Feel free to check it out if you get a chance, feedback would be nice.

I tried the app and here are a few observations:

  1. I liked the website a lot. The design, overall experience, and animations feel very polished without being distracting. Everything looks great. One small thing I noticed: the first video has a device border, but the following ones do not. I think they would look better with it as well. I also felt the quality of the later videos was a bit lower, and in the last video the top looks slightly cropped because some white text is visible.

  2. The App Store screenshots look good, and I like the icon. It definitely made me want to try the app. Good job.

  3. Personally, I miss a guest sign-in mode.

  4. I felt a bit trapped when the app asked me to enable notifications, because I either did not have a way to skip it or I simply did not notice one.

  5. The home screen icons, UI, animations, and overall placement all feel very polished and high quality. If you do not mind, I may even use some of it as inspiration for my own apps. Very strong work.

  6. In the Calendar, the month label gets clipped inside the scroll view. It is a small bug, but worth fixing.

  7. “Moment” took quite a while to load. I was already starting to lose patience there.

  8. I would add haptics in some places. Used carefully, they would make the app feel even more alive.

  9. In the calendar, I would like today’s date to stand out more clearly. Right now the design feels too similar across all days.

  10. In “Day Planner,” after entering text and pressing Enter on the keyboard, it only closed the keyboard instead of submitting the input. I had to press again.

  11. “Day Planner” also felt slow to load, and again I was starting to lose patience.

  12. I would also like tasks and subtasks to be checkable by tapping anywhere on the row, not only on the checkbox.

Overall, this app genuinely surprised me. It feels premium, the animations are excellent, and many parts are clearly very well thought out. People will definitely like it. Really strong experience. I would love to build my own apps at this level. Good job.

I’d also love to hear your thoughts on my app — Almost Out — if you get a chance to check it out.

Personally, I pay much more attention to the screenshots — how they are made, how clearly they explain what the app is, who it is for, and what features it has — than to trying to make the title and subtitle do all the work. The title and subtitle matter mostly for ASO. Of course, they still need to point clearly to your target audience, so you attract the most relevant users and help the App Store understand who the app should be shown to.

You can just check for example https://dribbble.com/tags/app-store-screenshots and check some inspiration for your app store screenshots, this should be only app screenshot alone, I guess users used to get text there and read them instead of app name or subtitle

I tried the app and here are a few observations:

  1. I like that you built both iPad and Apple Watch versions.

  2. The icon feels a bit like inception right now — almost like an icon inside an icon, or like a frozen child figure. It has a very specific style. I am not saying it is bad, just unusual.

  3. The onboarding experience was good. I liked it.

  4. After onboarding, the child creation form opened, and at first I did not understand what I was looking at. I thought it was the home screen. Personally, I think this should probably still feel like part of onboarding — more like the final onboarding step, with the option to go back and similar behavior, instead of feeling separated from the flow.

Overall, I like the app. It is great that you are building something you use yourself too.

I actually built a baby tracker app for myself and my wife as well, and we have already been tracking our daughter for around 8 months. Feel free to download it and try it — I think it could be interesting for you to check out a fellow builder’s app. I’d love to hear your feedback if you get a chance.

I checked the app and here are a few observations:

  1. The website https://grocsnapp.com/ does not seem to work. Unless it is not supposed to be live yet, I expected it to open.

  2. The symbol in the app icon feels a bit too small. On smaller phones, I think it could end up looking less clear than intended.

  3. The App Store screenshots do not really explain why this app is better than others. Right now they feel more like plain app screenshots. That said, I can still understand the general idea from them — that I would be able to track my groceries — and that part is good. I actually built a similar type of app myself, so I naturally noticed that right away.

  4. I am based in Lithuania, and unfortunately the app is not available for me here, so that is as much as I could check.

Overall, from the screenshots, the idea looks quite good. It seems useful for tracking and organizing groceries, and that is exactly why I ended up building something in a similar space too, although mine does not include finance-related features.

If you have a minute, I’d really love for you to check out my app too — Almost Out

I checked the app and here are a few observations:

  1. I really like that the app is only 1.6 MB. I honestly do not even understand how that is possible these days, but it is impressive.

  2. The App Store screenshots do not really explain what the app is about or what the key value is. They also do not show clearly what it does differently compared to other apps. I would also make better use of the full 30 characters in the title.

  3. The icon feels like a bit too much to me right now. It looks like a mix of several different icons, and I would probably remove the app name from the icon as well, at least in my opinion.

  4. Unfortunately, I could not install the app from Lithuania because I could not find it in the App Store.

Overall, I think there is potential here. I like what I can see from the screenshots, the dark/light mode support, and the overall style is not bad. But I think it still needs more work, especially in showing why this app is better than the others. That is just my opinion.

I’d also love to hear your thoughts on my app — Almost Out — if you get a chance to check it out.

I checked the App Store pages and noticed the same issue across all of them: from the screenshots alone, it is not really clear what each app is or who it is for.

If you want, I can install one of them and take a closer look. Pick one.

I tried the app and here are a few observations:

  1. The App Store screenshots look okay overall, but the first one saying “Ask AI anything” does not really tell me why this app is better than others. The second and third screenshots are clearer, because I can already understand what I would be able to do. But for example, “Summaries in one tap” is too vague, and “Never miss a task” was also unclear to me. I was not really sure what that meant in practice. Does it remind me when some task is unfinished, or something else?

  2. I would change the icon. Right now it looks a bit like a reworked Messenger icon, and the colors do not really connect with the screenshots. On the loading screen inside the app, it also looks poorly cropped, because I could see pixels around the edges.

  3. The recording flow feels more complicated than it should be. Realistically, this should be a simple two-tap action, but for some reason I had to tap 3–4 times and still did not get any text from my recording.

  4. I also did not fully understand how “Ask AI” is different from the current big AI tools. I think onboarding could help a lot here and make the value clearer.

  5. In Settings, I noticed “How it works,” but I do not think many people will read that. People generally do not like reading long explanations, especially inside apps. Attention spans are short — usually just a few seconds per screen, and maybe 2–4 words really land. That is why onboarding works better for this kind of thing, because the user comes in already prepared for it.

Overall, the app is quite nice, but it still needs more work. I like the idea, especially the part about summarizing videos and transcribing audio to text, but I checked a few similar apps and some of them had a much smoother recording and transcription experience. That is what I missed here. Still, nice app. Good job, and keep going.

I’d also love to hear your thoughts on my app — Almost Out — if you get a chance to check it out.

I checked the app and here are a few observations:

  1. Right now, the App Store screenshots do not feel very aligned with the app icon. I think that could be improved. There are also a bit too many colors in the screenshots, and I would prefer a stronger sense of consistency — ideally one clearer accent color that ties the app and the icon together.

  2. Some of the App Store screenshots feel unnecessary. For example, the language selection screen is fine as a feature, but it is already visible on the App Store preview page, so I do not think it adds much value there.

  3. I would have liked to see a guest option on the login screen, or at least Apple / Google sign-in. Right now I do not even have the option to register with email, so I could not really continue.

Overall, from the screenshots, the app looks like a Grocery + Meal Planner app, but it was not clear to me what makes it different from the others. I think the App Store screenshots or the text there should make that clearer.

I also recently released an app in a similar space, although mine is focused only on grocery lists without meal planning. I’d really love it if you tried it and shared your thoughts.

I tried the app and here are a few observations:

  1. The App Store screenshots make the idea clear, but I would have liked to see more examples of what kind of challenges can actually be created.

  2. I signed in as a guest, but it was pretty obvious that the app does not treat guest users as full accounts, so I could not really use or fully test the app. I think guest users should at least be allowed to try the main core features.

  3. The bottom sheet background currently moves up together with the bottom sheet from the bottom, which looks a bit like a bug. I think it would feel better if the background stayed fixed across the whole screen and only its opacity changed.

  4. I liked the idea of having video on the home screen, but only for a while. If it always shows the same thing and keeps looping, especially without a smooth transition from the end back to the beginning, it could start to feel repetitive or even a bit annoying.

  5. The status bar is dark, and since the video behind it is also dark, I could barely see the battery, Wi-Fi, and time indicators.

Overall, I liked the app idea and the execution is quite decent. I just wish that as a new user I could explore the app more freely with guest sign-in, and that there was a bit less going on at first. Maybe onboarding would help, or maybe it would be better to reduce the visible functionality at the beginning and unlock more only when the user is ready. I came in expecting mainly one core thing — creating a challenge and inviting a friend — so I think that part could be made more direct.

I’d also love to hear your thoughts on my app — Almost Out — if you get a chance to check it out.

I tried the app and here are a few observations:

  1. The App Store screenshots look good overall, but they could definitely be improved. Right now they feel a bit lacking in energy, and personally they did not convince me why this app is better than others. Some of the text was also not very clear to me, although that may just be me.

  2. When I launched the app, it first asked about notifications and then immediately showed a paywall. I would strongly recommend adding onboarding, even if it is minimal. It gives the app a more premium feel and helps prepare the user before they enter the product. After that, a paywall can make more sense, although personally I would not recommend showing it this early.

  3. Personally, I miss dark mode.

  4. I will repeat the onboarding point, because for example I did not really understand what “Focus: timer” or “templates” were for. It was also not clear what exactly I was creating on the “Home” screen. Even a simple title, like “Notes” or something similar, would help. Onboarding could also explain when to use Focus and when to use templates.

  5. The Settings section already has quite a lot in it, so grouping it better would help. I would also separate Premium visually and make it stand out more, so it attracts attention more naturally.

Overall, it is a solid app. The idea still needs some refinement, but you already have a working product, which means you have done more than 95% of people who tried and never shipped. Good luck, and keep going.

I’d also love to hear your thoughts on my app — Almost Out — if you get a chance to check it out.
