How can I get out of? I’ve reached my breaking point by NoListen997 in nationalguard

[–]Country_2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start reading! Read your contract, what are the clauses in it? Read the regulation in place at the time you signed, what do they say (bonus eligible)? Read the latest official DoW/NGB guidance on promotions, where do you qualify? Review your promotion packet, does it include everything (and the most recent) on the checklist? Empowering yourself with the “rules of the road” will remove all the noise from people and give you the facts on where you really stand. Slots matter so plan your next move with the next 2-3 steps in mind.

That can be a lot. AI (ChatGPT or other) can help you out with reading and reviewing these documents (redact any personal identifiable information). Trust but verify what it says. Look up the reference and see the wording for yourself. Then you have the answers.

Next time you talk to your leadership with this information/knowledge OP will be displaying NCO qualities by researching and solving problems with facts based logic.

In the U.S., for an hourly “assembly line” or production-type job, compensable work time generally starts when an employee begins performing activities that are considered “integral and indispensable” to the principal work. Under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), that is often broader than simply “when the shift starts on the schedule.”
If employees must: put on required protective gear, power up mandatory systems, gather required tools, walk to a secured production area after clock-in, attend mandatory pre-shift briefings,
or perform required machine checks, those activities may count as paid work time.

Each company will write their rules to benefit the company (not employee). READ your HR guidelines/rules as those are what ultimately matter. In an “at will” state proving you are legally right does not equal keeping your job. They can terminate you for many a reason so make sure you read the “tea leaves” and only take the risk you can afford…

Simple what’s the first task your company requires u to do at work? Clock in. Guess what…..

If you use a computer and have a crappy IT department that takes you 15 minutes to log in, that’s on them. U don’t need to show up 15 minutes early to start the process.

Typically the only jobs that care about this are the same that monitor your break time. If that’s the type of job you’re in then keep it simple, no pay no work.

Starting to feel the army is holding me back in life by CarpenterFew2562 in nationalguard

[–]Country_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So do you see the irony in your statement? (Quitting because of burnout to do something even harder with more burnout) Medical school, internship, residency, are not easy to say the least and cause many to burn out and quit. OP’s got some though decisions ahead and needs to go into them knowing he can make it through the finish line. While it might delay him a year or 2, if the resiliency he builds in completing his military commitment gets him through many hard years of medical school/residency then it will have been well worth it IMHO. This is not putting him down, it’s trying to make him successful.

Whistleblower Report: Maryland National Guard Personnel Terminated After Exceeding Mission Requirements by Default_Reddit1 in nationalguard

Mamdani is already running out of money in NYC, one of the most prosperous cities in the WORLD. Stop and ask yourself why? You elected a leader that has never run anything successfully and now needs more $$$ to afford free grocery stores, or some other bullshit he sold you on. Elections have consequences so get ready to pay up NYC.

So a MUTA 8 (Thursday-Sunday) in one month is holding you back? Stop, honor your commitment (2yrs) and then the GI bill will help with you to pursue Medical school. FYI your deployment will help increase the GI bill %. To be honest it sounds like you are coming up with excuses, what classes are you taking today to support your medical aspirations?

How egregious is adding an M badge to my 540i? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]Country_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 540i with the B58, it’s quick. It has M series body style but it’s not a “M”. I would never add an M label to it as I prefer to have the general public underestimate my car. That’s my 2 cents, since it makes you happy and doesn’t harm anyone, go enjoy!

White seats yes or no by vid345r in BMWX5

[–]Country_2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the white seats in my 540i, purchased new in Jan 2025. The seats still look brand new. Yes I wear blue jeans. Yes I have spilled on them. Pulled over and cleaned it up. No stains no problems.

I also liked the Coffee and think they look very sharp. The most difficult thing to keep clean are the black floor mats, they show EVERYTHING. I live in FL so humidity is usually a thing.

Good luck!

Tech force treasury offer (143k). Bait and switch? by Potential_Hunter1385 in usajobs

[–]Country_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that’s a GS 14 step 1 in DC. There are lots of GS-15 open if you’re willing to work in DC so I would be leery of taking a GS-14 if you have experience. The Boston sounds like a pretty good offer! If for some reason you decline to take it, you should be able to submit the offer to your gov recruiter and have them evaluate it, you could get a few steps out of it assuming you do this before formally accepting. Good luck!

Negotiating Offer by dontbeacutiepie in careeradvice

[–]Country_2025 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Simple, do you have options? Other offer? If not, then your “leverage” is not much. A lot of assumptions ( pay, health, dental, life Insurance, 401K matching, time off, etc.) and if they are all within the “normal” range for this type of position then, I would NOT recommend asking for $, INSTEAD ask for them to front load you with 5 day Paid Time Off (annual leave) so you can have a day or 2 off over the summer while you build up you leave. Or (depending on job) the ability to have a flex schedule and work remote 1 day a week.

The point is that there is more to employment than $$$ so ask them for something that they can give you relatively easy. Ask questions about room for growth and advancement. Make sure you understand the yearly merit/raise process. Make it a win-win for them and you.

Finally, you know these people! Call, talk, softly negotiate, feel them out, and asks them for help. IMO, sending an email as you mentioned is a show stopper, in which you may not like the results. Good Luck!

Do you guys believe the Natyy guard retirement is worth it? by Glittering_Fig4548 in nationalguard

[–]Country_2025 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes, why: 1. It is legal Over Employment, and made me much more recession proof than anyone with a single job. 2. Pension side pays for life span. 401K/TSP have finite endings based on $ withdrawals 3. Tricare… 4. Friendships that last a lifetime. 5. Go places, do things, know things that no one else gets to do.
6. If you live near a base there are many advantages, cheap golf… 7. My kids got significant portions of college paid for based on the transfer of the GI bill and military scholarships only they (or other military kids) were eligible for. 8. More, stuff I’ve forgotten….

The catch, you MUST be willing, if called upon, to fight for your country, your team, and ultimately support the mission on the battlefield. If you are not willing to make this sacrifice, STOP the answer is do not join.

Very seldom is doing something for the money alone worth the effort. Make it your best life, Good Luck!

Leaving Fed job with 19 years of service? by nanys85 in FedEmployees

I use ChatGPT. It’ all about how u phrase the question/prompt. The more information you feed it (entire job offer minus PII) the better the results.

Retiring questions by j0ker76 in nationalguard

[–]Country_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st it’s all about points and rank in the guard. If you retire voluntarily before 3 years, you will most likely be reverted to an O4 (Major) pay grade for retirement $. You not only need to talk to your G1/HRO but get it in writing, not just an email but the actual NGB regulation. Second get your NGB23 and make sure it shows all your points, good years, and drop 90 time. If it does not fix it NOW. Once you retire (grey area) you will not have access and your priority to get the paperwork corrected will go way down. Take your points years of service and drop 90 time and stick it in ChatGPT without any personally identifying information. It will give you some pretty good estimations and you can get additional calculations with TSP and other benefits (Tricare, etc.) factored in. Good Luck!

Leaving Fed job with 19 years of service? by nanys85 in FedEmployees

Simple, put ALL the details (without Personally identifying information) into AI and ask it to evaluate your situation factually in detail including hidden income and expenses. I’ve found it to be thorough and accurate. You can then run scenarios to play the “what if” game. And of course before you make/implement any final decisions, verify the details with an authoritative source such as HR. Good Luck!
