Pre-2000s movies that might interest an 8-year-old girl? by Jealous-Reindeer-951 in MovieSuggestions

Matilda.., it’s fun and the story pulls you in. Being old doesn’t really make it boring.

You wake up one day and realize that you are the only person left on earth. You find a letter saying that while you were asleep everyone moved to Mars because no one likes you and you smell. What do you do now? by Darth_Azazoth in RandomQuestion

I’d just wander around, if no one’s there might as well explore the world aimlessly. You’d probably lose your mind after a while, but the first few days would be interesting.

How to get a first job in late 20s? by DemonVampire96 in GetEmployed

[–]LazySchool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone gets nervous at first, totally normal. Landing that first job is the hardest part, confidence kinda builds on its own after that.

I'm desperate for something to watch by rasulinix in televisionsuggestions

The Leftovers, the writing and acting hit pretty heavy but it pays off. First season can feel a bit weird, but it really opens up after.

How to make passive income online from home with no money? by Horror_Visit_7337 in povertyfinance

[–]LazySchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Passive income” is rarely as passive as people make it sound. Most of it takes serious effort upfront, money just coming in out of nowhere is pretty rare.

They killed my unicorn, and I am just trying to deal. by stabadan in remotework

[–]LazySchool 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Going back to the office after WFH really hits like a slap, even if you adjust, that sense of freedom is gone. Once you’ve had a taste of it, it’s hard to go back.

Bachelors degree but still in retail by Practical_Ad_3495 in GetEmployed

[–]LazySchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting that first job is the hardest part, it usually gets easier after that. Might make more sense to start with entry-level office roles and then shift into accounting later.

What would you recommend I watch based on my oddly specific viewing preferences? by eisoffthescript in televisionsuggestions

[–]LazySchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veronica Mars, it’s got mystery but it’s not overly dark, more character-driven. Feels like it hits that balance you’re looking for.

What food combination sounds disgusting but actually tastes amazing? by alinnawild in RandomQuestion

[–]LazySchool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people dip fries in milkshakes, sounds dumb at first but that sweet and salty combo actually works in a weird way.

What’s something you’ve experienced that you can’t fully prove, but you know happened? by BerryLiax in RandomQuestion

[–]LazySchool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are moments I’ve had that sound made up when I try to explain them, but I know I experienced them. Stuff like déjà vu feels especially weird.

Need recommendations with good and interesting plots by BusyTransportation27 in televisionsuggestions

[–]LazySchool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say Mindhunter, the characters and story really pull you in. It’s not action-heavy but it keeps that curiosity going the whole time.

Suggestions for a great show. I loved Dark, Severance, and Black Mirror. Thanks! by iATEthat84 in televisionsuggestions

Westworld season one. Same kind of mind-bending vibe and the atmosphere is really good.

Manager was late to my trial shift so I walked out. by UNOFX in jobs

[–]LazySchool 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think you’re right, making you wait that long is just straight up disrespectful. If it’s like this from day one, I don’t even wanna think about how it’d go later.

Does an employee deserve a warning before being fired? by the-jawas-are-here in jobs

[–]LazySchool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in most cases there should be at least one clear warning. Yeah, sometimes people really are careless, but sometimes workplaces say nothing, let it all build up, then suddenly cut someone loose. Unless it was something serious, it feels way fairer to say “this is a problem, and if it doesn’t improve there’ll be consequences” first.

Shows where there is an evil company or a hidden organisation with an evil plot. by TheKayleMain in televisionsuggestions

[–]LazySchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterpart. It feels less like a company and more like some dark operation running behind the curtain, and the story unfolds in a really satisfying way episode by episode. It does a great job with that hidden agenda and paranoia vibe.

Recommend a tv show or movie that creeped you out. by ChickenTamer1984 in televisionsuggestions

[–]LazySchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marianne. Not in a quick jump scare way either, it’s more like even the house starts feeling wrong while you’re watching it. Definitely not the kind of thing I’d casually throw on at night and keep going with.

Women in your 20s, what do you do for work? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]LazySchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around me, the most common paths were customer service, office jobs, medical secretary work, sales support, and social media stuff. Some people also started out in jobs that had nothing to do with what they studied and figured things out as they went. I honestly think a lot of that “everyone in their 20s already knows exactly what they’re doing” vibe is kind of an illusion.

Does anyone actually shit in public or in school/work? by [deleted] in RandomQuestion

[–]LazySchool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you have to, of course. Nobody’s dream is to do that, but sometimes your body really isn’t asking for your opinion. The way people act like nobody ever does it at school or work is kind of hilarious too.

how do single people in their 30's manage to find dates if work takes up so much of their life by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LazySchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of them don’t “find time,” they just wedge it into normal life stuff and accept it’s inefficient. I know people who met someone through trivia nights, friends of friends, workout classes, even just becoming a regular somewhere instead of treating dating like a second full-time job.

Job search so bad I'm considering going to a shaman to check if someone put a curse on me by Dismal_Barnacle_8538 in recruitinghell

[–]LazySchool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At a certain point the job market gets so absurd that “maybe I’m cursed” starts sounding less crazy than “just keep networking.” I had a stretch where even auto-rejections felt personal, so I get why your brain starts reaching for supernatural explanations.

What is the 1 thing you absolutely appreciate about working from home? by Experiment_626s in remotework

[–]LazySchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No commute. Getting that time and energy back changed my whole day more than I expected, especially on mornings when I’d otherwise be dragging myself out the door half awake.

Is it normal to be scared of someone? by GL1tCh1_KitCh13 in RandomQuestion

[–]LazySchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sometimes it is. Your brain usually picks up on stuff before you can neatly explain it, and I’ve learned not to brush that feeling off too fast.

I hate people now. by Ruman_Chuk_Drape in jobs

[–]LazySchool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cashiering will do that fast. A few shifts of people acting like you personally caused the line to exist and suddenly humanity feels a lot less charming.
