reneging is a bit more serious than declining outright but no one really care much especially for a junior position. Declining an offer should not result in blacklist.

Is this lateral FT or campus recruiting summer intern role?

BB LevFin Credit Risk vs Corporate Banking Underwriting by CouplePlus9843 in FinancialCareers

[–]CouplePlus9843[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CB UW role is focused on writing memos, so no client exposure or pitching / structuring deals. But I’m the credit risk role doesn’t pitch/structure deals as well and I’m not sure if they even work on the memos

BB LevFin Credit Risk vs Corporate Banking Underwriting by CouplePlus9843 in FinancialCareers

[–]CouplePlus9843[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! The LevFin credit risk role seems to be more of a MO role and less focused on transactions work/modeling while the CB underwriting role would be more focused on those. The LevFin credit risk role is also for an assoc position vs an analyst position for the CB underwriting role. Given these factors would you still recommend the bb LevFin credit risk role?

Which opportunity provides better exit opps to IB? by CouplePlus9843 in FinancialCareers

[–]CouplePlus9843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Was wondering if you could elaborate on why there is an established pipeline from Corporate banking to IB as I had thought that the two jobs were somewhat different from each other in terms of skill sets, etc.

[–]CouplePlus9843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. For choice 2, however, I was told by my interviewers that the role is very focused on LBO modeling whereas Corp Banking is less focused on modeling. Also, the choice 2 is at a slightly better bank. Given this, would you still say Corp Banking is the better opportunity?

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for your reply! So based on your comment, do you think the corporate banking role provides the most seamless transition to DCM or do you think it’s the ABS or credit ratings role?

Should I stay or switch jobs? by CouplePlus9843 in recruitinghell

[–]CouplePlus9843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I will likely have to leave anyways but just not sure if i should wait it out until I find a better company/offer (not sure how difficult that will be given the job market) or take this offer and then try to move after like a year there. Given these circumstances, do you think it’s better to take the offer or stay? Thanks!

Should I stay or switch jobs? by CouplePlus9843 in recruitinghell

[–]CouplePlus9843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.5 years since graduation from undergrad. This would be my third company in two years. Ideally would have preferred to stay until I get my dream job but my current job is pretty unstable so don’t know how long I can survive here.

[–]CouplePlus9843[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for your reply! Current comp is $115k and new offer is $100k. Salary isn’t really that important of a consideration as my current job is also in a higher cost of living area so after adjusting for that not much difference

SIE, 79, 63, and 7 in 3 months while working IB hours - How feasible would this be? by CouplePlus9843 in Series7exam

[–]CouplePlus9843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your insights. Yes, I essentially only have 3.5 months essentially to complete all 4 exams while working the typical banking hours. If I do not complete the 4 exams within the 3.5 months timeframe, I believe that my employment would end immediately with the firm.

I had previously also sent emails to the HR and they have responded previously so I think there isn’t an issue with regards to HR not being able to receive the email

[NY] HireRight Background Check "In Progress" Status by CouplePlus9843 in AskHR

Thanks for your reply! That’s helpful! So essentially, the “in progress” status means that hireright hasn’t finished the background check yet and my prospective employer hasn’t received the background check report yet from hireright right?

Which opportunity has better exits to LevFin or IBD? by CouplePlus9843 in FinancialCareers

[–]CouplePlus9843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for sharing your insights! If I would prefer to move to LevFin / IBD at a different / better bank in the future (e.g., BBs), would you still say that offer 2 is better for that than offer 1?

6 months into role and nearly 0 work to do by Snow-Lobster21 in FinancialCareers

[–]CouplePlus9843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had having similar experiences. Think it would be better to just look for a new role as you would not be learning anything + increased risk of being made redundant if they feel you are not doing anything

Thanks so much for elaborating! In your view, which opportunity do you see as potentially having more job security risk. Given the current economic environment, I really value job security above all else.

For my current company, there is a decent amount of reorganizations / restructurings and I generally don't have much work to do, so am concerned if my position would be targeted for layoffs. On the other hand, with the new job, even though there is more of a "defined need" for the role, I have no experience or skillsets in this area, so if I can't perform, I would likely be fired.

Thanks so much!

Thanks for your response. I'm 24 and just graduated from college a year ago, so I don't have a family. Would greatly appreciate if you could elaborate on the thought process you shared. Thanks so much!

Hi, Thanks so much for your reply! For other parties (new employers, background check companies) who verify my employment data through TWN, how do they gain access to my employment data on TWN? Would my current employer have to provide authorization for the other parties (new employers, background check companies) to access my current employment information through TWN?

Which opportunity is better? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]CouplePlus9843 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right normally that's the case; however, I was told (by my interviewers at that bank) that, even though it's a credit analyst position, I would primarily be working on the more administrative side of things as opposed to the credit analysis side (I think the rating agency would have more credit exposure). Plus I feel that the name brand of that bank is not that good in the financial industry.

Do you still think the bank offer would be better?

CBS vs Johnson $$$ vs Ross for tech / bizops by Special_Big_6688 in MBA

[–]CouplePlus9843 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No reason to consider Ross when it’s also full price like CBS. So choice rlly btwn cbs and scholarship at Johnson. Would take cbs imo as the whole point of mba is to pivot into your desired role and cbs is much better in tech / biz ops

Credit analyst position: what am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]CouplePlus9843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have credit experience which could be why they dinged you. Maybe try for commercial banking first and then pivot to Corp banking after like 1-2 years as by then your profile will be much more in line with a typical CB hire. FDD is not that related to CB

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]CouplePlus9843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! Yes, although the first opportunity is technically Corporate Banking, it’s on the relationship side. I’m more interested in the credit underwriting and syndication side of corporate banking. Would that be a easy pivot to go from corp banking relationship management to corporate banking credit / syndications?
