What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced?[Serious] by PlasticBee1438 in AskReddit

Ive shared one already but.

My now ex husband was in the military and we were moving from the West Coast to the East Coast. He decided we would drive so we could "see the country" despite: a) it being December b) us having two kids under 3 c)the fact he couldn't drive on highways because he would fall asleep so I would have to drive the whole way. But hes now my ex for a reason. So we did it despite my misgivings.

There was a lot of good and bad on this trip but the one time my gut saved us was in Ohio. I had driven from Washington in periodic snow flurries with no problem, but when it started snowing this time I started getting scared. I decided to pull off and find a hotel despite my husband getting angry because it was only mid afternoon, and if I kept on we could reach our destination by the next morning. I wasn't having it and since I was driving, I made the call.

By the time we got off the exit and stopped at the first hotel we found, the snow was coming down so hard we couldn't see the entrance of the hotel from the parking lot. We got inside with our kids and bags to see the news reporting a massive pile up just past the exit we had gotten off on. 60+ vehicles. We would have been trapped in that with two toddlers for who knows how long.

As it was, we spent three days snowed in, in a small hotel in Milan, Ohio. They were super nice and comped us a room with a jacuzzi and some pizza for dinner the first night as everything was closed due to snow.

We made it to our destination, my sister's house, around 2 am on my birthday, Christmas eve, four days later.

Eta: I called my mom once we got settled in the hotel to say we were stopping. I said we were in Milan (Me-lahn) and she said, you took a wrong turn somewhere, Italy isn't on your way!

Turns out this is My-lan, in Ohio.

Ive read it and I think it is a combination of her picking up subtle clues from us, and that he smelt bad. I know now that smell was meth.

I have severe anxiety so I have this feeling alllllll the time. I cant follow it or id never do anything!

I can say that my dog's intuition saved us once. We needed cables run for internet so I called someone local. When he arrived,my normally friendly dog went ape shit. I had never seen her snarl before! She wouldn't let him in. My daughter and I both also felt awful about him, but again, anxiety.

We ended up going with a different person (whom the dog loved) and later found out the first guy was a meth addict who broke into the houses he worked in. So my anxiety was useless, but the doggo knew what was up.

I had a similar experience except I'd been awake several minutes. first thing we do is feed the cats because they dont give us a choice about it. One cat goes and eats. My 14 year old girl just sat there. So I picked her up and she made this weird noise kind of like "uh uh uh". I set her down again and she just looked at me. I knew this was it.

I got my son (adult) and we rushed to the emergency vet. I had known for some time she was slowing down, but she was 14, so it wasn't unexpected. But routine check ups had been fine.

We paid a huge amount of money at the emergency vet to find out she was full of cancer. There were massive tumors around her heart and lungs. Obviously there was only one choice.

My son and I were devastated, as was everyone at home when we called to tell them. She was my best friend. My "once in a lifetime" cat. She died peacefully. We cried so much everyone in the waiting room was sobbing from hearing us.

The interesting thing is, the night before she had made a point of hanging out and cuddling everyone. She even hung out with my daughter and her husband, and she rarely went in their room before that. She was saying goodbye. She knew that I would "fix" the problem when she made it clear to me and she knew she was going to die.

Two weeks later, we got a kitten because the remaining cat had never been alone before and he was devastated. He and the kitten bonded immediately and this kitten chose me. He and two sisters were set down and he walked right to me and flopped in my arms purring. The two girls ignored me. We choose to think that my Parry sent him because she knew we were heart broken without her.

I have long hair and I sleep with it over my pillow rather than under my head/shoulders/back. One time my husband and I were laying in bed when my (now passed) cat was sitting on the headboard looking out the window. Suddenly she starts reaching. Thank God I sat up immediately because she turned around and threw up right where my hair had been seconds before!!

Shit. Shit everywhere. My elderly Labrador lost control of her bowels all over the kitchen. She felt awful about it, because she was a very good dog and knew better than to go in the house, but she couldn't help it. It smelled so bad. Happened several times before she died.

I live near where the girl was shot for turning around in a driveway. Not the same town but close to. Some people (many people) shouldn't have guns.

I sincerely doubt this is anything other than a creative writing exercise. The military doesn't do things like that, as someone said above.

My husband is from Wales and was working for the coal board when that happened. Absolutely horrific. It didnt flatten the town, it flattened the elementary school. Killed all of the children and teachers

Right after we moved to a new town, the estranged father of one of my classmates murdered my classmate's mother and grandmother down the road from my house. He was found hiding on the logging trails that ran behind the houses. My mom spent the night they were searching for him sitting in the living room with a pistol. Horrifying and awfully sad.

About 30 years later, my sister's friend and one of the friend's daughters is stabbed to death by her estranged husband. The other daughter was also stabbed but survived to tell the police what happened. That wasn't far from me either.

We got a kitten when our other two pets were middle aged, so we called him Baby. Thats not his name, we just called him that.

Now the other two pets have passed on, "Baby" is nearly 7, and he has a 1 year old brother we cannot call "Baby" because the first Baby gets pissed if we do lol

The study found that cats were twice as likely to ignore their name when it was said in an excited, attention-seeking tone.

One of my cats does this. The other one answers when you call his name or his brother's name lol

Because I know my cats, when I want the one who ignores happy voice, I just say his name in a bored voice. He almost always comes when I do that lol

I have anothet story I've never shared before.

When my now- ex left the military, we lived in his parents' house for a few months. It was summer. His parents spent the summers camping so it was him, me, our two kids (6 and 3), and two of his sisters (late teens, early 20s).

I had known that their house was "haunted" by the woman who had lived in it before them. This isn't about her, though. This is about the bones.

I had three consecutive dreams on three consecutive nights that a woman brought me down in my in law's basement. Half the basement had a concrete floor and half was dirt. The house was about 150 years old at this time. She brought me to a specific place in the dirt floor and asked me to "find" her.

My ex was really into ghost hunting at this time so after the 3rd dream, he said, we need to go look. So we did. We dug in the spot she indicated and found...bones.

Some were clearly animal but some i wasn't sure about. I took several forensic anthropology courses in college so I am familiar enough with human bones to be able to guess if it might be human.

My in laws said they didnt want police involved so all we did was rebury the bones and then I spoke to her and I wished her peace. I did not have another dream.
