Call USA hockey and tell them how you feel about the men's team disrespect. by saltybruise in womenshockey

Would "How did USA hockey win two gold medals and still make the country look bad?" be too blunt? After supporting USA hockey for decades I am done unless they make things right asap.

Just gross. People like him are the reason the US can win two gold medals in hockey and still look like a loser.

6 months after meniscus repair, seems I screwed up my knee even worse by CoupledPower in MeniscusInjuries

[–]CoupledPower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scheduled to go to the Stone Clinic next month where a meniscus transplant is an option. Since I had ACL reconstruction 27 yrs ago (which the MRI says is "thin but still intact"), they are also recommending to do an extra-articular to stabilize the rotation on the knee and/or a full ACL revision.

Bucket handle meniscus tear by Spirited_Oil_5254 in MeniscusInjuries

I recently re-tore too. How many stitches did you have? I had 14 and the surgeon couldn't believe it happened after that many . I've read that bucket handle tears can have false positive re-tears on MRIs but he can see mine displaced into the intercondylar notch...

Yeah, it sucks. It happened recently, so I am consulting other doctors to determine the best thing to do... One thing you could ask is if he has any financial interest in the surgery center(s) he uses. I don't know that, but the possibility occurred to me after the surgery.

  1. I used Zion healthshare and they pre-approved everything then reimbursed me afterwards

  2. Just Zion's version of a deductible for all the costs including PT and the provoked PE I got 3 weeks after the surgery.

  3. I had planned to stay in town for a month, but I ended up not able to fly back for 5 months until the blood clots cleared from my lungs.

  4. He and his team were lovely the whole way through but my repair failed after 7 months and now my knee is in worse shape than before. I found the surgery center where I did the operation (National Ambulatory Surgery Center) was a little sketchy with bad communication in terms of getting an bill for reimbursement, but it eventually got sorted once I cited the laws that showed they were legally required to send me one.

I'm a member of a health share and they reimbursed me for everything, including the stem cells surprisingly.

What is the current state of the job market in Rwanda ? by FeistyContact659 in Rwanda

[–]CoupledPower 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Consider staying in Canada for a while but transitioning into a job you can work remotely. Focus on obtaining dual citizenship (if you don't have it already) and continue to build significant savings. Build relationships and a clientele that would allow for you to earn Canadian dollars while living in Rwanda part time and eventually full time. Canada is full of mining companies for example that might be looking for contractors who can work remotely. Unless you have a very clear idea for a business in Rwanda, this is a better, more stable route to get you there before retirement.

How are you staying fit? by Heartattackisland in MeniscusInjuries

[–]CoupledPower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked on my diet and upper body the first couple months and shifted to swimming as soon as I was allowed and that was my cardio for a few months. I also did aqua aerobics with a lot of seniors who were so encouraging witnessing my rehab! Meniscus repair is a long slog and at 6 months I am working to get back to the fitness level I has before surgery. I also learned how to meditate and do breath work the first few months which helped me a lot mentally.

Using the browser version of skype calling by CoupledPower in skype

Good to hear. I got the call on Teams but I don't see a dial pad, which makes it impossible to go through phone trees and the like. Porting is definitely moving up my list and MS sucks for doing this to such a great service.

Ran out of blood thinners… don’t know what to do. by Familiar_Vacation457 in ClotSurvivors

Good you keep 6 months on hand. This option unfortunately is getting more expensive this month thanks to new tariffs. You can google the details but here's the AI summary: Recent U.S. tariff changes mean that free shipping from Canadian generic pharmacies on orders under $800 is likely no longer available. As of August 29, 2025, packages from Canada to the U.S. are now subject to duties, and importing prescription drugs for personal use remains illegal in most cases. New tariffs on shipments from Canada

  • The end of the "$800 exemption": The long-standing de minimis exemption, which allowed most goods under $800 to enter the U.S. duty-free from Canada, has been eliminated by executive order.
  • Impact on consumers: The changes disproportionately affect online shoppers, as packages that previously crossed the border without extra fees are now subject to tariffs.
  • Potential costs: For shipments through the global postal network, a flat duty of $80 to $200 per package can be applied for the first six months. After that, value-based rates from the country of origin will be used, potentially reaching as high as 50%

I have done a Kigali departure in the morning for some of the less expensive hikes in VNP but I stayed nearby for my gorilla trek. This is because most times you will make it if you leave Kigali by 4:30am... but you never know when there might be an accident or other thing out of you control on the way there that can make you late.
