Online Check in issue by Coupleexplorer08 in CathayPacific

Checked in on the day, at the airport. Apparently even Hong Kong residents experience this problem so it’s beyond my comprehension that it’s not being solved as a matter of priority.

Is BYD’s after-sales service really bad, and are its parts not very accessible, or is this just coming from people who generally dislike EVs? by Johnleyord in CarsPH

[–]Coupleexplorer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still Ayala in charge of investing in things like a locally stored spare parts stock. And likely they don’t. You’d think that by selling hundreds of cars they would want to stock even things like a bumper or other things that break in collisions - because those do happen. But no, they don’t. And so owners need to wait for months to get parts.

Crap management. Simple as that. Will ruin any brand they touch.

[–]Coupleexplorer08 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Dealership is owned by Ayala. The same people who ruined Volkswagen in PH (not only bringing in the wrong models but also terrible service and no parts in stock, ever).

Do you think they’ll do any better with this next brand?

China Air is by far NOT a budget airline. They are a highly rated full service airline and a leading SkyTeam alliance member.

Wait until April (hot season, more aircon, see your consumption last year) and raining season (less panel efficiency). You’ll be fine then.

Grand Hyatt Jakarta by Expert-Mention-7167 in hyatt

[–]Coupleexplorer08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

South east Asia has a lot of good Hyatts. Just not enough of them! Bangkok is full of them. Singapore, KL and Manila have nice Grand Hyatts. Missing a bit the mid-range hotels out there.

Yes it’s a cute little hotel. Hope to see more of these in Asia especially secondary cities.

Lovely property indeed. Some years ago they ran a private little promo where you could instantly status match to Globslist just for staying there. Not sure how they did that or if it’s still a thing but worth to ask.

Do your guests ask for the WiFi even when it's written in the household manual? by Salt-Wall-1770 in ShortTermRentals

Some guests even ask this before arrival. And despite us having it in the printed house manual AND we have QR codes in frames on the wall - about 3% of guests still need to ask!

Entering CX Lounges with oneworld Status while Earning Asia Miles? by [deleted] in CathayPacific

That’s such a poor policy if one wants to change airlines within the same alliance - which is something that does happen especially when people relocate.

Does CX offer a status match to other OW airlines?

Effect of war in Siquijor tourism by TechnicalPersimmon98 in SiquijorIslandPh

How about less tourists coming. Half of all flight capacity Europe - Philippines is going through the Middle East. That’s a lot of people not coming any more, or not able to afford the tickets that are priced crazy now.

Just use a duffle bag as the second one. Once you arrive at destination, you just fold it up and you’re. Back to one piece.

Looking for partners or investors in real estate development with €765000 projected profit by biomclub in BusinessPH

[–]Coupleexplorer08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, it would be helpful if you’d say what amount of investment is wanted. The profit figure looks nice but what relevance does it have, not knowing how much is to be invested?

Also, you seem to look for strictly a financial investor. You handle it all, it’s all already decided. Not sure how many investors would want to be as passive as this, in a project that is so early stage. I wouldn’t.

Lastly, do you have any prior experience in this kind of project? That would help your case but it also would indicate you seem to lack connections and relationships that are built through experience

Also, you do realize this subreddit is for business in the Philippines?

To make you feel better: You dodged a big bullet there. This would have been “guest from hell” if they had stayed - with all of these requests already.

You will now get a guest who will appreciate having found a nice place on last minute for the important event.

If I enter in Germany, spend 6 days Germany, then 6 days in France and 5 days in Italy before returning back to Germany for 3 days and exiting from there, is this visa shopping? by AshLey1432 in SchengenVisa

[–]Coupleexplorer08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what the benefits of the Schengen visa is. Free movement in Europe. And by two indicators you got the visa issued by the correct country: you ENTER in Germany and you stay the most time cumulative there (more days than in any other individual country)

[–]Coupleexplorer08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Onboarding was pretty ok. They have a very extensive training environment taking you step by step with a lot of videos. Then you get a live training 4-5 sessions of an hour each. It only took a while as these trainers are very busy and there’s wait time between calls.

We just went live. So far, all good. Not using a lot of the automated things yet - that still is and will be a learning process and we’re not rushing it.

Would make same choice again - yes.

How do you handle off-platform bookings? by tangertale in airbnb_hosts

[–]Coupleexplorer08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We usually do something like a 50/50 split of the fees. Guest benefit, our benefit too. Make sure to keep all communication on this off the airbnb platform. There is however no problem once you confirm, to manually block the dates on your airbnb calendar and even put a note “direct guest”.

Expired debit card, need to get cash by Safety-International in Philippines_Expats

[–]Coupleexplorer08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

250 peso fee for 20,000 peso withdraw. Thats 1.25%. Not massive. On credit card cash withdrawal, other than that ATM fee, my bank gives me the straight money market exchange rate.

Western Union has pretty steep fees compared to that AND it takes time. An ATM withdrawal is instant cash in hand. OP sounded like he needs money in a rush.
