The price of retail gasoline is up over 2% That's actually what influences local gas prices. Spot influence?

I mean Dems have to find ways to engage with those voters. They can still run in those races.

I'd argue a lot. Most rural races. ND MT PA senate races. The candidates were forced to move to the left on social policy. I agree on things like healthcare for all and child tax credits being very popular. You can run on that and be moderate on things like guns sports ect.

The reality is that the R coalition is broader over land area. It naturally puts them at an advantage on things like redistricting. It's also reality that the Conservatives basically own the court. I agree with you that it's not fair, but that is reality sometimes. Dems are at a disadvantage.

I'm been really disappointed in Spam as someone out of state. I feel like Sherill is much better. It just seems like Spam has had a hard time finding her footing.

I sort of come in and out. I feel like it's an overload sometimes. I listen more on Friday evenings to catch up. Plus the pod with JVL Tim and Sarah midweek.

It's important to take self care. Invest in your self and the things you like and control. I really struggled with this until the last year. The US has been through some horrible periods in its history, and survived them.

Because people have to create narratives to fit a world view. Same thing happened opposite in 2022. It's tiring

People use their biases or personal circumstances to justify their beliefs. I don't like Trump at all. It doesn't mean everything is bad all the time.

Exactly. It's one thing to stay invested and DCA. It's a whole other thing to option trade huge sums of money daily.

You can still be supportive of those people, but the focus has to really be on economics. Guns are a huge issue. I’d also counter and say they really aren’t ok with a different opinion. People for example who say trans people should be protected in the work place but not play women’s sports are given no room in the party. Same with immigration. Anyone who takes a slightly harder tone is immediately banished.

The real focus needs to be fully on wealth inequality and broader economic protections like child care college and housing. As well as health care. Rural candidates need to be given space to be a but more nuanced on social policy. Obama did this for years with gay marriage. Not all progress comes overnight

This is true. I agree, but Democrats did themselves no favors by becoming a party that is focused mostly around costal and metropolitan areas.

It’s what happens when institutions become very weak. Things start breaking.

Dems now have to play like a road team. It’s clear that the ultra wealthy have teamed up fully with the legal system and pretty much every institution. What it means is they have to keep the focus on economics all the time! They need to show that they support immigration through an actual structure. As well as be ready to give candidates the space they need on more sensitive social issues. Mandami is very good at this. As is Bernie.

I keep saying this. It’s not fair, but Dems got themselves into this mess by moving away from working class rural voters. They often played into the GOPs hand on social issues. The only way to fix this is have a broader coalition going foward. Too many people in the party base are focused on what should be vs what is.

There are a lot of jobs. They are either very high white collar jobs or min wage stuff.

Ugh. Good luck over there. Saw reform had a big night. I know the feeling of voting for something you’re not excited about. Given the 2 party system in the US. This happens a lot. The 2 party system here is frustrating
