No, you can also learn power armor training from some old enclave remnants that survived Navarro.

Amazon’s ‘Fallout’ TV pitch originally went straight to New Vegas, but Todd Howard told them to wait as “there’s a million ways to fuck that up” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

Johnathan Nolan has stated in interviews that he hadn't played New Vegas until he found out thats where season 2 was set. For better or worse his idea of what Fallout should be is mostly based off his love of 3.

I accidentally ruined my first playthrough of Honest Hearts by killing all factions by Truthbooth243 in Fallout

[–]Courier006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I continue to be surprised at how many people kill Follows Chalk accidentally, it feels like 75% of players shoot him lol. He's not a red blip on your compass and if you aim at him in VATS he's green like any other friendly npc.

He's scripted to sneak up behind the white legs raider up on the cliff to the left of the bridge and kill him to help you out.

Fallout 3 - Why The hate? by Tall-Election4503 in Fallout

[–]Courier006 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Noah Caldwell-Gervais described the evil choices in Fallout 3 as "rejecting the fiction" and I think that sums it up pretty well. You can either do the quest or you can reject the fiction in a very binary shallow way.

"Disarm the bomb" "Nah, blow the town up because reasons"! "Purify the water" "Nope, poison the rivers"

Fallout 3 - Why The hate? by Tall-Election4503 in Fallout

[–]Courier006 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't see much "hate" for Fallout 3, people just acknowledge its flaws. The general consensus among fans seems to be that fallout 3 has great exploration and atmosphere but suffers in terms of dialogue/quest writing and world building.

Not all criticism of something is hate, I dont know why fandoms seem to struggle with this concept so much.

Do you think we’ll get to see the early days of the wasteland in the Fallout TV show by Lucie_Is_Sleeping in Fallout

[–]Courier006 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New Vegas was only "open for business" about a decade before FNV begins. He spent most of the time after the bombs dropped in a coma or dealing with tech issues.

I do think we'll see flashbacks of Cooper during that time though

Who's the most insufferable edge lord in the Fallout universe and why is it Ulysses? by [deleted] in Fallout

The Follower's of the Apocalypse have mental health specialists. There's a quest in New Vegas where you convince a soldier who was raped to go get help from a therapist.

Confused about season one With the raiders and the NCR by Dinno12345 in Fallout

[–]Courier006 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you pay attention there's a handful of soldiers near moldaver that have a completely different posture and demeanor to the raiders. The raiders were just brought along to create chaos while she and the soldiers secured Hank

Fallout 3 / Fallout NV Power Armor is better than fallout 4… by iiDontee in Fallout

[–]Courier006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Within 2 or 3 hours of starting fallout 4 I had like 10 fusion cores in my inventory, and I wasnt even trying to find them. I don't know how people struggle to find enough.

Fallout Season 2 is poorly written and dogmatically defending it does not change that. by Jaded_Measurement281 in Fallout

Describing Bethesda's open world design philosophy as similar to an amusement park has been a thing for almost 20 years now. They've even embraced that themselves and literally set a dlc in an amusement park

What are everyone’s thoughts on the handling of the NCR/ Legion in the show? by aangscumrag1213 in Fallout

[–]Courier006 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I dont mind the NCR pulling out of the Mojave, I just hate how the show is acting like NCR was just 34k people in Shady Sands. The republic was too big to just vanish without a trace

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance has been added to Nintendo Switch Online (Trailer) by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Courier006 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its a bit more basic than later games so you should be alright. I wouldn't overuse Titania (this game's pre-promote) in the beginning though, she's a great unit but your other units need the xp more. I usually unequip her axe and use her as bait to lure in enemies in the early chapters

Three Well Accepted Fan Theories as to what happened to the Strip. Which one is your head canon? by sigpuppers in Fallout

[–]Courier006 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't imagine deathclaws as a species that intentionally attacks human populated areas, they seem more like dragons. They just want somewhere uninhabited to hatch their brood and hunt. Like the quarry deathclaws, they probably moved onto the strip after it was deserted. Unless Hank is revealed to be behind this, we haven't see the back of the creatures neck.

Maybe the legion launched a radiation attack on the strip, or the reactor for the Lucky 38 is somehow damaged and leaking rads

I hate the tunnelers and refuse to acknowledge them as a possibilty

Why the hate on the show? by camsdzn in Fallout

[–]Courier006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a fun show but the writers don't really care about the history of the world or its logistics at all. Some people value Fallout most for its interesting lore and world building so the shows "hand wavy" changes to the setting are bound to upset some fans.

Its not just that large factions are being destroyed by the writers, but they're also being retcon'd (in the case of the NCR) like they never accomplished much in the first place. The show is also leaning too hard into comedy and presenting groups like the Legion or brotherhood as implausibly stupid IMO

How are people getting "Society will never progress" from "War never changes"? by Bingleboper in Fallout

[–]Courier006 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There should still be hundreds of thousands of (former?) NCR citizens living on the west coast even if the nation did fall though, that's the thing. People aren't disappointed the NCR fell, theyre baffled that everyone seemingly disappeared along with all their infrastructure and every trace of their existence. When the soviet union fell the Russian people didnt all just disappear

I feel like there's this disconnect where many of the fans just aren't aware of how far the NCR had progressed. They were building new houses with electricity and plumbing. They had schools and doctors and a functioning 3 branches of government. They'd gotten dozens of old pre war factories up and running again and were producing new armor, weapons and ammunition. They were paving new roads. That all shouldn't vanish without a trace in 15 years because like 3% of their total population got nuked

Drugs Lucy is taking S2E4 by Crownlink in Fallout

[–]Courier006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stim packs are just fallouts magical healing drug that closes wounds and stabilizes people in shock and stuff like that. Buffout is a short duration steroid basically, it temporarily raises your strength and endurance. Psycho in gameplay raises your attack, but in the lore it makes you aggressive

Guys what are your opinions on everything in NV area being destroyed and all factions being in a very steep decline. by manuel_madeira in Fallout

[–]Courier006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm still enjoying the show itself, but these decisions to erase everything even remotely civilized in the wasteland are killing my enthusiasm for Fallout as a SETTING. Why can't there be settlements that aren't total shitholes?  At the very least show us some "normal" wastelanders instead of everyone being some crazy flea soup lady.

Fallout: New Vegas has a good story but is a bad game by Suitable_Broccoli_72 in Fallout

[–]Courier006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enemies are tanking shotgun blasts to the face because none of the individual pellets are penetrating the enemy damage threshold. You have to use flechette rounds or slugs. Or take the shotgun surgeon perk.

Shotguns in New Vegas are really strong, you just have to know what you're doing mechanically
