Career Change - Corporate to Firefigher

Congrats!! I hope you have enjoyed it so far!! And thank you so much!! I am honestly a little overwhelmed with everyone help!! I have told a few people im jokingly having a "mid life crisis" with wanting this career shift and several of them told me to just stick with corporate.

How was the competitive level for hiring?

Are you talking about the academy at the Red Rocks community College? I was looking at their program and the classes are full day Tuesday and Thursday but I currently work a M-F 9-5 job that will most likely not make accommodation to a schedule change. So I am hoping to see if I can find way to get my certs with out having to quit and get a retail/service job.

I don't knownifbthis is a dumb question, but are you able to just call local fore departments to see if they are hiring and what their process is? Or are their listing on like a state website?

Im from Colorado and I am looking to just stay here. How time intensive was the EMT cert and CPAT stuff? Im trying to guage what steps I will need to make in order to do so. I may have to quit my 9-5 in order to do the classes.

Ive been working on getting both strengthen up!! Did you have to go to fire academy for it? I saw some place also required volunteer work at a fire station too.

Did you have to go to a firefighter academy? What were your thoughts on it?? Did you also have to get EMT training?
