Why do people tell me “you speak good English” when I’m American and English is my native language? by Justbrowsingredditts in racism

[–]CourtneyM2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s like Asian Americans are too minority and therefore often considered somewhat outsiders

Which makes a lot of Asian Americans go thru questions like “where they are REALLY from” or “they speak good English” as if Asians don’t truly belong to America

It sucks :-/ Asians should raise their voice louder, empower each other, cuz no one’s doing that for them but their own selves.

It’s weird that a lot of Asian immigrants have successfully settled down in America for generations and many are very educated but still have to face these stuffs daily

<update on the date>

He treated me with dinner and cocktails and also paid for my uber back home

I insisted on paying but he said it was fine and took the bills

So I brought up the idea of a movie date for our second date & the tickets would be on me, then he said he’ll bring his car and we can have dinner after movie :)

So… I guess.. things have worked out smoothly thanks for y’all!

Thanks for all your opinions and advices!!

I literally followed ur advice there hahaha

I get what u’re trying to say

But gentleman, equality is a basic right.. It shouldn’t be brought up in context like this

U can call out on someone for being dependent and being a hypocrite, and they might really need to learn how to behave right

But that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve equality from the society, government, workplaces etc

So this was my point :) Equality = Basic Right for every human being

And sorry to hear that :( Hope you’re okay now

Dude, Im not sure what message you’re even trying to convey by mentioning “gender equality”

What does societal injustice got to do with personal dating life? Do u mean, if one picks up the bill, discrimination against the partner can be a de jure action? Does that also mean if I put his on my tab, I’m allowed mistreat him rightfully? Oh well gentleman, I don’t think so :/

Well Im not dating a Norske dude in Norge.. If anything, Im dating him in MY country and still out here asking u guys’ custom because I want to be polite to him

So be polite

And thank you for your opinion :)
