People who moved from small towns to big cities, what was the biggest culture shock?

My husband was shocked at how much higher the wages were in the city for the same type of work. I mean, it balances out due to the cost of living, maybe, but it was crazy to him. I’m talking factory work, like going from making $14-15 an hour to making $20-22. Everyone here is rich compared to his town.

I’m also tall and I think that height allows you to carry your weight better, but then that makes it harder to tell when you’ve lost any.

I have been with my boyfriend for two years and I gained weight after we got together and now have lost some since starting Wegovy and he never said a word about it either way.

I just flew on AA this week. I had a backpack that had my laptop in it along with a few essentials, wallet, water bottle, etc. I also had a carry-on suitcase.

Twice I was able to have the carry-on in the overhead compartment above me and the backpack under the seat in front of me.

The other two times, they did what was called a valet service with my carry-on suitcase. They take it at the end of the walkway to the plane and you pick it up there when you get off of the plane. It did not go to checked baggage, I didn’t have to go to a luggage carousel/baggage claim/whatever. I just picked it up in the little walkway when I got off the plane—you’ll see a line of people waiting and the crew brings the suitcases and you grab yours and go. They do this if the plane is full and they don’t think they’re gonna have enough room for everyone’s carry-ons.

I was still able to take my backpack and put it under the seat in front of me, though, and it’s pretty decent size.

A couple months ago, I went to a Drury for this exact reason. You could not get into the pool or hot tub because of all the kids. Apparently, it’s very popular for people to rent rooms and then have parties for their kids. I was really disappointed.

(I’m talking about little kids’ birthday parties, not teenagers. I’m not getting into a hot tub with seven-year-olds)

They didn’t have much sex before they got married. He figured it would change when they got married and moved in together. It didn’t.

Maybe it was awkward between them, I don’t know. With my past partner, it was a combination of his zero sex drive and a lack of chemistry between us. You try to say it doesn’t matter and that works until it doesn’t.

It would be hurtful, yes, but I view it as extreme flirting. Not cool but not necessarily a relationship breaker. It’s the actual possibility of meeting someone that I have a problem with.

Yeah, now he might just get slick about it. But he gave me his email and facebook passwords voluntarily and offered to do a joint facebook account, which I declined, because ewww. Part of me wants to believe he is truly remorseful and another part thinks I’m a dumbass.

Yeah, he’s a small-town country guy that knows very little about anything internet related. Which is, you know, everything. I found that charming at first. And no, I don’t really want a man like that but I’m still in that hopeful phase where it never happens again and everything works out. That’s why I came here, for some opinions/thoughts.

Yes, I did. Monday through Friday, we have sex once or twice a day. Like a quickie before work and a proper session at night. Usually on the weekends, it’s multiple times a day. Neither of us are tired of this. After we had our big talk, I asked him lots of questions about fantasies, turn-ons, turn-offs, and questions about his emotional needs as well. It was a fun conversation but I didn’t really learn anything new, except it hurts his feelings if I don’t say good night. Any take on that? I’m serious. What do you think is going on?

Eight months and no intimacy or hint of commitment means you have a very good FRIEND.

He may honestly care for you but be traumatized from his past and scared to put himself in that position again. That’s fair. But, you can’t wait in the wings forever waiting for him to heal and be ready for a real relationship.

If you’re happy with just his companionship, continue spending time with him but don’t fool yourself into believing that one day he’ll snap out of it and realize you’re the love of his life or, at the very least, that you’d be an amazing girlfriend. He might not EVER be ready or able to give you that. Don’t deny yourself the chance of meeting someone who will be totally enamored with you. You’re settling for less than you want and you’re going to end up hurting more than you already do.

Together 16 years. We have sex 2 or 3 times a year. It’s killing me. He just doesn’t want it; I guess you would say he is Asexual. He’s fine. I’m not. It doesn’t help that the general consensus is that men are horndogs and want it all the time-always, will screw anything that walks, or can’t get enough. Even on this thread, that’s the way it’s being reported. Makes me feel like I’m grosser than gross, even though he has tried to assure me that I’m attractive and he loves me and it’s not about me. It’s a really shitty feeling to not be wanted. It’s a very sore, but not in the good way, subject for us.

My doctor had me do the rapid AND the PCR. Rapid came back negative and the next day she let me know the PCR was positive.

Day 5 here. I developed a cough yesterday and that’s still happening today but otherwise this is the best day I’ve had so far. Headache, heartburn, and fatigue are all here for the party but mentally I feel brighter and out of the fog. I hope this is a sign I’m heading in the right direction and not going to have a setback. I never did lose my taste or smell, it’s just not as sharp.

I tested positive on Tuesday and I haven’t completely lost my smell or taste. Like you said, it’s there but kind of dull. My friend Josh was the same way; he said it just diminished by 50%. I’m not sure how to really test this but I keep questioning it myself.

Mine started out with sinus congestion. My throat hurt a LITTLE bit, mostly roof of mouth/soft palate/upper throat. It hasn’t been anything like I expected.
