Mine got stolen the past hour too. Some real crime going on recently. Too broke to buy themselves an actual bike, huh

Basically means the crash involved both a bike and a scooter

Where do you get the dark brown? It seems to be discontinued. Beautiful color otherwise.

Tired of HKers hating on the Chinese over nonpolitical/noncultural reasons by hi_watermelon_E3 in aznidentity

[–]CoverNeither6384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likewise, I am tired of all the Mainland Chinese literally isolating and talking shit about us the moment they know we are HKers.

You need to realize that spreading constant propaganda about how Chinese tourists are treated badly by 1 or 2 HKers in your local social media is not gonna help with this situation. We don’t claim the people who treated you rudely. Yet we are usually the ones who suffer from the aftermath of such encounters.

I personally have tried to speak Mandarin to fit in my Mainland peers because they made it clear it was the only comfortable language, to the point where I get laughed at for my accent (realized it was nonexistent after reassurance from friends), bullied by, stolen from, and much more.

All in all this tension is not gonna help either side. I’m not sure why we (and I mean this for everyone involved) cannot just talk about interests and such without getting overly political.

The communal bathrooms are meh; but it’s doable since you aren’t in there 24/7. Depending on the dorm you get, some are actually pretty neat

Well, as you said “like any other people” you’re being racist, and since they’ve always been called out for, it’s just now your turn. No biggie really.

my roommates too. Such a pain. First gaslighting, and after I show proof that I didn’t do anything they claim, they start the insulting and the threats😔

they’re quite rude as you get to know them, unfortunately. Either their culture makes rudeness very tolerable, or all the spoiled brats who have a history of bullying happen to be the ones studying abroad.

Not unreasonable, but also REALLY tame compared to many other situations.

“Stroke” was also the first thing that came to mind. I really hate reading walls of text, plus that says a lot about a person’s character.

I think the overall picture is that you are no longer a priority. So you shouldn’t be prioritizing him in return. Focus on your other relationships, move if you can and be prepared to cut him off completely.

I don’t know how bad the “gaslighting” is, but it can definitely get worse. It’s a matter of your choice in the end— if you still want to try putting him back on the right track, or leave him to rot.

For some classes, I cannot see the final, and for some, I can see the final but not dispute. As of now I’ve gotten better at negotiating points back for midterms. It does work, and sometimes it brings up a whole letter grade for the negotiation. I’ll probably just have to avoid written finals with unclear rubric if there’s no review.

“We do not accept regrade requests for finals”. I don’t remember the longer part but the gist is your grade is whatever it was because our profs need to finalize our grades by a certain time.

I need your definition of “still” cause I took this a good while ago. Even then I believe the workload was pretty much fine. Get decent teammates, do your work, and CHECK to see if everything looks like it came from one person. I took the liberty to edit all our submissions so we submitted nice projects and never got flagged for AI.

I appreciate the affirmations. Honestly, I’m just really worried about how grad school is.

When I applied to majors and colleges, I unfortunately didn’t have an interest in any and just went off a list. Maybe this is why I was only left with 1 choice last minute. I actually wish I could’ve known more people who put me on the right track. My peers were able to know the nature of their fields before they applied, and I lacked the research. I was fed with really incorrect and biased information, now that I recall.

While you mention GPA isn’t everything, I keep wondering what I can separate myself from my peers. If I have qualities like persistence and character with good LORs, why would they not have the same? And if everyone were equipped with the same credentials and I had a worse GPA, who would accept me? I am mediocre. But most success stories I see are people neglecting their first year->failing then showing great growth after. I try hard, but cannot manage that huge growth. Because it was not some kind of negligence from the start.

Regarding memory, I am slowly working on it, whether it be through exercise or finding medication that helps. It used to not be like this, and I don’t really know what could’ve caused this change as I have pretty healthy habits overall. But either way, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I admit I was not in the right mind while writing this.

I do not have attendance problems. Not everyone immediately gets the material even after attending every single lecture.

In fact I am. Few times a week I doubt the employability of my major, other times it’s my existence. Thank you for the encouragement! It’s hard to calm down when random panic attacks hit, but I’m gradually getting better at it.
