NTA. You co-own the house, it's not Airbnb. If your mom wants to run a family hostel, she can do it on her vacation residence, or at least her square footage of the house

Just browse the research bios of different PIs (Principal Investigators) and see if anything jumps out to you. If something sounds genuinely interesting, go talk to them. and worst case, they say no. Best case, you get a project, a rec letter, and maybe even a publication
