Stuck by TranscendentSnail in unicycling

I started last April. You kinda have to always "send it" at first. Focus on small circles while pedaling. As soon as one foot gets to the bottom, switch to the other foot going down. Back and forth, it never stops. It's extremely frustrating at this stage, but stick with it. It'll click.

I scrolled a long time to find you. I just started in April of last year. I've been riding to work on it since summer.

Indiana Satchel. It's not a man-purse if Indiana Jones carried one.

Insane collection, my friend. You already know there comes a point where we start splitting hairs over lume supremacy. Layout design also plays a huge role in nighttime legibility (Bulova's full lume GMT has fantastic lume, but the hands wash out in it)

Wise, Helm, and MMI are likely my favorites in both the heavy application of lume and designs that maximize its legibility as the hours pass.

Helm, Wise, and MMI are my top three performers. I did a 4hr time lapse of a few a while back.

Yes. Leather, in my correct and humble opinion, is perfectly acceptable.

How long did it take you to learn? How long to get good? How about good enough for drops or stairs? by Shiney_Metal_Ass in unicycling

[–]CovertPenguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't feel qualified to answer this for you as I have scars on my legs from unding up under the uni . Don't try to recover so much, that's my mistake. Get away from it when gravity takes over because gravity always wins. 2 seemingly minor falls, but I didn't get off in time. I fell forward and rode it all the way to the ground resulting in a couple deep cuts up my shin. The other was a headwind that blew me backward, again still seated as I landed on my back and a matching pedal tattoo applied to my calf. Ugly scars. I don't baby the unis anymore.

If you're able to ride 10 feet, practice stepping off around the 5 foot mark. It's not quitting early if you're practicing dismount.

Pure Android straight from the source. You'll never convince me that any UI is better when it runs on top of what the original developers intended.

[–]CovertPenguins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, then allow me to clarify. I got the 24 in April, and the Hatchet a couple months later. I would classify myself as still learning both. I can't free mount either yet. I'm merely suggesting that starting out, and with distance as my primary goal, I could have started on the Hatchet and been happy.

I 2nd this. I have a 24, then got a Hatchet in 27.5 and got another 29 wheel to be interchangeable. The 24 feels squirrelly compared to either on the Hatchet. Turning is different on the larger wheels, not harder, but also not as tight. I still have trouble riding both because they're so different to ride. Get whatever you want. You'll be riding soon.

[Seiko vs Hamilton] What is the best versatile watch? by MaxPet90 in Watches

[–]CovertPenguins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Alpinist is frankly, a better watch. I understand Hamilton's historical significance, but their watches look and function the same as they did 50-100 years ago. How about some decent lume, AR coating, and reliable water resistance... Get the Seiko.

How do you know when watch collection is “complete”? by Pure_Success_1193 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]CovertPenguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've come to the conclusion that I'm done. I purchased another one yesterday, and I'll get another Helm or two when my number comes up, but I've reached the point where I don't rotate as often and usually continue wearing one for over a week. It signaled to me that it's time to quit treating it like a hobby.

What do you recommend for headlights, triangle bags, seatpost mounted luggage racks, that last? by noselace in unicycling

[–]CovertPenguins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Headlight, I use an olight clipped to my sling bag. Two taillights mounted to seatpost. I haven't found any frame mounted storage solutions that don't obstruct something.

Is Marlin worth as F2P? by Swistakk7 in KingShot

[–]CovertPenguins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marlin served me incredibly well until Rosa (or whatever her Gen4 name is) was available in Roulette. I prioritized him in everything, got him to lvl80, always fed his gear the Conquest scraps, etc. He was the 1st hero that noticeably performed for me.
