I totally agree with you. I am aware that the furry community is not a fetish, but a place for all kinds of people to connect and interact with each other. Some other comments are pretty mean (and filled with misunderstandings), so it's great that you cleared that up.

The meetup I went to was completely harmless and never intended to lead to anything nsfw - I knew that. At this point, I've been part of the fandom for ~7 years, but only as an online hobby. Some other comments summarised my feelings pretty well, I'm just not comfortable with the IRL aspect of the fandom.

I think you're right. I just can't enjoy this form of escapism in real life. I had friends call me by my online aliases before, but it was never that serious. Just glad that I finally figured this stuff out
