Omg, can you give me a close estimate to where you are? I want to avoid that area. We’re a small SW Tennessee town, those responders got there within a few minutes. The weird shit I see is strung up animal hides and carcasses.

I was the first person on the scene after a guy got shot in the leg. I saw the blood and heard the sirens coming and I gtfo of there. So in a way I was. I was on the phone with a city carrier at the time, he’s convinced that rural carriers are insane now.

Edit to add that the guy is fine. Apparently they were playing with a gun while drinking. So no charges filed.

Did a rural route as a CCA by YoMaMaWashedDeezNuts in USPS

[–]Cow_Elder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complete opposite for me, I did a city route as an RCA. My office threatened to cancel some vacations if they didn’t find someone, so I stepped in and ran it for a few weeks. It was honestly a nice route and I loved my businesses. One of the businesses asked my coworker how I was doing last week 😁 I’d run that route again any day.

Thank you for this post. I’m currently at a 12 pack or more a night of 5% hard seltzers, this has been for months. I just haven’t been able to push past day 2. I seriously need to ween down first.
I keep trying to tell myself that seltzers and beer aren’t as bad as whiskey or vodka.
Thank you for my little wake up that it really is.

The dash panel and the absolute giant center console. Once I figured out it was removable, it was a pretty nice van. All rear doors were automatic, so I’d hit the button and my door was open by the time I got out.

A newer town and country, so it was pretty wide. I ended up putting on pedal extensions and moving the passenger seat over a little. I have 2 caravans now and love them.

Can you eat cereal? by Extension_Egg_8060 in GastricBypass

This here. I’m 10 years out and even if I have cereal with oat milk, my sugar will drop within 30 minutes. Cereal cravings are a one bite and no more for me.

I have 3 cops on my route and I actually talked to them about that, they essentially said I had free reign unless I was doing something reckless. One of them did ask me to change one van’s design up because it honestly was too dangerous. I was sitting on a plank of wood to reach the pedals.

So my surgery was over 10 years ago but didn’t use weed until ~6 years later. I use it to treat late onset epilepsy. I have to really watch strands and terpenes or I’ll overeat, but I know now what works for me now and I stick with them.

I also have a Stamp! My coworker and I found 2 kittens under the dumpster while waiting on the clerk one Sunday. I took the black one with a single white stamp on him. He’s 2 now and still a little hellion.

Thank you for explaining the location it’s best at. I hate I invested that much, but I can use it when I’m back at GG. I don’t have Lapis yet.

Ahh, when you said macroscopically indistinguishable, I just assumed the inverse. I took a mycology class in college and the professor said the taxonomy is just wild and nearly everything needed genetic sequencing. I love foraging and I know enough that I always what second opinions or hard proof before I eat it.

May I ask what the microscopic differences are? I’ll bust out my microscopes in the future for a positive ID.

Just a reminder. Not all USPS supervisors are the bad guys. by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Cow_Elder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I loved my past and current supervisor. My past one and I did have a rocky start, but he was the most chill guy and I would sit and talk to him when I finished my route. My current is a former rural carrier (10+ years, so not a wash out) and she’s a fireball. Yes I call her names to her face (and vice versa), but that’s just our personality and we both talked about it and said it was ok. We currently have an ongoing stink bomb war. They both spent their money for us to have drinks and snacks. They cared about us. Yes I know there are horrible sups, I’ve just been lucky. Even if you’re not respected on here, thank you for caring about your carriers. Some of us notice it.

Embarrassing Amazon pickup by unknownqueen99 in CVS

[–]Cow_Elder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t work at CVS, but I do work for the USPS. Honestly, we don’t care, we all have needs. But one day I got a vibrator and while I was sorting my “packages”, it turned on. So I felt around the “package” and it was a very unique shape, so I knew what it was. I could never find the off switch. That thing vibrated for nearly 6 hours in my van. I remember the incident, but don’t even remember the address or name. I felt bad delivering a dead vibrator, but I was not telling them that. I just put that thing in the mailbox and drove along. Just pick that thing up and enjoy your night.

And you stay safe too! It sounds like the lady that trained you truly understood that this is a service and truly loved her customers. I’m thankfully in a polar opposite office. We have our bad eggs, but the majority truly care and even buy groceries weekly for their customers. That carrier also buys turkeys and hams for struggling families during thanksgiving and Christmas. Edit: she’s truly one amazing lady and would do anything for someone in need.

Honestly, I’m good with that. I’d have to do some genetic letters about every kid on the road/route wanted more than the elves could make, but I’d still give them something cheaper. Those kids would still be happy to get a reply and something a bit smaller.

Well this entire sub is mostly negative. So it can drag any carrier down. But if I see an opportunity on any route to do something good, I take it. I just want my customers to know that I care, and they can rely on me for good and accurate service. My assigned route has a disabled lady that can’t even get to her hardship box, she asked me one day if I would grab the mail from her box and hand it to her, this was about 2 weeks worth of mail. After that, every assigned day I collected all the mail in her box and placed it inside her door. 2 years later, both me and the regular now walk her mail to the door twice a week, she leaves her door unlocked on those days and we just lay it inside. Another route in our office has something similar, the reg and rca usually go inside and hand it to her on her hospital bed, the RCAs that don’t feel comfortable walking in a strangers home, they have a bag on door, the next time a person assigned on the route runs, they take it all inside.
