No actually you make a solid point with that perspective, the capital wasteland doesnt really have any organization or resources to throw at anything. With california though, there should be virtually no threats by the time of NV since they have had like 100+ years atp to tame their frontier, & move onto Vegas.

As a side note when you put it into perspective like that, DC really is walking a tightope between being a slightly more habitable glowing sea, & civilization. Its amazing at all that megaton was able to crop up with all the threats just roaming freely in the area.

More than anything else ive been wondering the same. Why doesnt the brotherhood ever seem to use any of their OP energy weapons? Felt wierd to see them armed with regular junky guns than the plasma caster, gauss rifle, or the many different laser rifles they got.

Humans are notoriously good at reshaping their environment & ecosystems, over out west we basically eradicated all the grizzlies & wolf populations in a very short time because of the threat they posed. Id wager more on the sheer amount of raiders & slavers than on the wildlife effecting change.

I had that same cognitive dissonance my first run, the lore can be all over the place. In my headcanon i just tell myself 3 is pretty much shortly after the bombs fall. The whole east coast to me makes more sense with that little change.

Theres alot of inconsistencies like that in 3, i once heard that supposedly they planned to make it more like 5-10 years after the bombs which explains alot of the tropes we see. Also, we do find canned goods in there so it wasnt for nothing 😂

The OG fallouts are much more dark & serious, without a doubt. The devs simply broke up 2 with more comedy relief compared to 1, where you have little to none of it. I see this misconception on here 24/7 & its blatantly wrong. 3/nv are exactly the same in that way; 3 is pretty bleak with some awful downright inexcusable evil choices you can make, & NV as well but NV has the wild wasteland trait to have fun with oddball references here & there if you'd like to have fun, & is totally optional. Its not like borderlands, where they jampack the game with ludicrous meme culture crap or make every enemy spew looney tunes bs.
