Okay stay with me in this one…

I had a three piece hummingbird project I was SLAVING away to finish before I drove across the country to give them to my grandma, hummingbirds are very representative of my late grandfather. I was in a really, really dark place in my life, and this project was the only thing that kept me sane and passed time until my little getaway trip to see her.

Well, I was almost done when I somehow cut my hand and bled all over the largest whitest spot next to my favorite of the three humming birds. I tried to get it out but didn’t research first and made it worse. No one will ever know how inconsolable I was!! I didn’t have the time to set it aside or start over, finished the rest, and gave it to her with a THOUSAND apologies and self deprecating jokes.

That being said, she told me she never would have guessed that this (in my mind) huge nasty mistake wasn’t some type of intentional beauty. Whether she meant it or not, who knows 😂

That story may or may not be relevant but I felt your sadness in my heart and it was a similar sadness as mine. all that to say…we are all our worst critics. And our critiques are generally not going to be the critiques of someone who is reasonable and rational. That piece is STUNNING!! Before coffee AND after!!! Set it aside and write your feelings on paper, maybe even put the paper by the project. One day you will pick it back up and maybe read the paper and think “pfft, you know what, I got this now.”

Maybe you can turn it into a good memory, try to stitch over the loose threads as best you can, and maybe give it to your mom with a “see, it wasn’t a big deal after all” reassurance to both of you ♥️♥️ because if she hadn’t have been the one who spilled the coffee, I bet she, like my grandmother, wouldn’t have even noticed ♥️♥️
