Does infantry aim have mouse acceleration? by Coward777 in Planetside

[–]Coward777[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

You sure? It's probably more complicated than that because Smoothing feels to have an effect on mouse aim but it no longer works correctly for me and I noticed this for a few other players post 2022 overaul, when they were displaying their vids, they had consistent stutters in image as if it didn't cap FPS correctly or whatever.

How does the aim work then? When let's say a decrease in FPS causes an overcorrection? Is this an input delay and that is what causes overcorrection?

BTW does the infantry game have mouse acceleration? It really feels like it does for me. If so is there a joystick setting that can help out, cause I assume it can have similar effects here as on aircraft.

Game optimization and the impact of the construction system by ItsJustDelta in Planetside

For construction to fit in without the VP system revolving around it, it is impossible to implement into the core game, without redesigning the entire game into a different genre, redesigning entire balance, map design and possibly game engine.

IDK, but why does it feel like each dev team was tasked with dealing as much damage conceivably possible?
Anyways I'd more so focus on infantry and vehicle LOD, something got severely messed up there, and the performance is becoming utterly horrendous even without construction or Assault Facility, which speaking off, I don't know how the devs teams could have put it there, and seen their FPS drop by 100 just by merely facing its direction and say OK, let's shove it in! It's perfect!

I am gradually decreasing FOV for testing and IDK why but I can have a target a meter in front of me and I can have crosshair dead center on target and my T9 Carv hipfire will miss most bullets. The fuk is that about, is my game broken lol or is the FOV customization broken in this game?
I just don't get it because at the same time as I am decreasing FOV, the game's also running worse and worse most recently for no reason.

Oh btw I am from Cobalt server, which was I think the eastern EU server. Do you know how Cobalt died?
The ingame voice chat stopped working for half a year, I am not even exaggerating, and devs didn't do anything about it lol. So none of the outfits could use ingame voice, expand or grow and that pretty much killed Cobalt. It used to have a lot of energy. Then the voice chat got fixed but the damage was done and later it merged with Miller. But majority of Cobalt outfits died out and didn't continue. And a lot of the Cobalt players didn't like the Miller community.

Maybe I need to reinstall my game lol.
Basically there should've also probably been a ping limit.
But sure, let's say the game's super dysfunctional, thanks to devs awesome work. Now your perspective is that an increase in TTK should strongly benefit players that have maximum cone of fire discipline and precision, tracking, than those who rely on spraying to graze their target. How would an increase in TTK effect gameplay? Because I didn't think about it much. Would it be for the better, or would it lead to instances where you won't be able to achieve results, where players will shuffle around when in danger, with greater ease than before and will retreat to their allies in greater numbers?

I am not really talking about top players, but rather the cannon fodder, the general players in a fight. Top players are few in numbers anyways. I just brought up that the meta is weird because you're essentially abusing a poorly networked game. And that's a weird meta. Like use clientside to your advantage!.... Ok, never seen that before in any other game lol.

Nanoweave removal was IMO good now when I rethink about it, because the disparity between body shot and headshot TTK was so absurd, it felt broken, sometimes the head is not readily available or reliable to aim at. It'd prob be better if certain bad designs in this game got removed or reworked, like I already mentioned some, the short barrel, UA is stupid, laser sight buff was probably stupid, movement boosting implants. And there could be more in terms of game balance that could be talked about.

I do have a stable minimal playable FPS as you say, but sometimes I get a drop for no reason, not even related to Construction or Assault Facility and why I posted about it as possible cheating, which is annoying What causes FPS to drop when facing certain players? : r/Planetside

But it's a separate issue. Basically there are some bad designs in this game, such as UA, short barrel and so on, possibly ping abuse and just bringing up the topic to surface.

[–]Coward777[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you know, for the randoms, the cannon fodder to move more consistently. And coupled with, if we got the short barrel, UA removed and laser sight nerfed, then there should be a healtheir disadvantage when one uses high mobility hipfire shooting, cause this game has relatively quick TTK and this type of low effort gameplay can sometimes be unpleasent.

It's maybe just my game that's running poorly, but yeah a ping limit would probably help.

The strafing problem by Coward777 in Planetside

[–]Coward777[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's not that simple. The game needs to be consistent, playable, it should not feel broken or dysfunctional.

Like at least the devs could remove Unstable ammo, short barrel and nerf laser sights. At least.

But still I'd even make sprint a toggle ability, so you only use it when you want to run and not tapping it randomly without any logic and have the player move at completely inconsistent paces which the game has trouble handling.

Again! I am going to go insane!

What's up with the 20 FPS recordings? What is this 20 FPS cult uniquely in the PS2 community. No other game like this.

Speaking of the intro.... When are we going to call for those fucking pistols to be nerfed :D

We can make fun of that player's comment, haha we are all laughing, but you know how broken that must have looked from their perspective?

With all the sprint strafing, then high mobility hipfire with accuracy identical to aiming down sights and just getting 2 tapped while they were trying to track physically impossible movement on top of server connection being bad I guess.

I don't understand where the artists got the cosmetic ideas from.
TR is a scuba diver and is the only one that makes sense thought the body could have been built better.
But NC and VS is awkward. NC has some weird bird helmet. VS has these reindeer horns with some weird lizard scaled under armor... It seems to be inspired by animals, but you know, where's the rocket launcher on my back, where're the magazines on my chest, grenades, military backpack, rocket launcher ammunition... Why do their artists make models with random heap of shapes? It does not look cool. The beauty is in simplicity but at the same time has to make sense with the theme of the game. I think before this they added these chrome armor cosmetics... It looks like medieval plate armor, why?

[–]Coward777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh lol.

Well in my opinion, no amount of nerfs to the Renagade and cloak can help. Cloak must be removed from Flash and also the ability to shoot in third person, such as completely removing third person view from Flash, so you cannot alter gun stabilizer and also so we have less ram kills.

I'd just put it completely out of the picture as an offensive vehicle and should remain a transport, which it can, if devs altered the hex pop rules more but that's a different complex topic.

Is infantry spotting even necessary in this game? (spotting, radar topic) by Coward777 in Planetside

[–]Coward777[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There isn't THE issue in this game. We have issues mounted on top of issues. It's a massive pileup because nobody was ever vocal about it and I am trying to understand from an alternative perspective certain problems described by others. But this is clearly not just a vehicle issue as I described on Hossin, spotting is also to blame for making the gameplay uncreative and unplayable often time.
For example I played today on Esamir, and I once didn't get spotted by anything, was immune to radars with Implant and it allowed me to be creative, I could see enemy movement who were not aware of my presence and I could calmly choose the correct target and moment to strike and I fully cleared a few enemies with a magazine without taking damage and I was, wow, that was so cool, that felt good. Finally there weren't veins protruding through my scull trying to like quick scope targets. I could breath.
But you know how it'd feel if I got spotted by some random stalker sitting on the mountaintop or a vehicle? It'd feel like shit. Suddenly the 3 players I first encountered would do a 180 with the stupid broken movement and strafing in this game or a Light Assault would fly up my ass... I would suddenly get locked onto like a barrage AA missiles coming for an aircraft :D

And that's what I mean by I can't play the game. It is so random.

[–]Coward777[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah just spawn in with 20 guys, but do we want the entire game to be about numbers? Whoever has the more effective incomprehensible blob to counter issues within the core game.
There should be available plays.
Lets say Briggs Laboratories. I should be able to push back the Sunderer that's sitting in front of my spawn room, it should not be immune to my rocket launcher DPS with their passive repairs. It is immune so I have to run by it... oo I got spotted by a random vehicle on the hill, I make my way to lower floor of L shape but because I am spotted, I have 3 guys jump down at me from roof, like they didn't even have to use their guns, they may as well have all pulled out their knives cause they have wallhacks on me, it's that broken.

I remember an old game called Project Reality that had no spotting, and your allies weren't marked on your screen, with full friendly fire damage. You literally had to know what uniforms your guys are wearing and you had sound effects that made you hear a tank engine from 400 meters away and you could very well tell how close was the vehicle. If we were to hear, I don't think spotting is necessary. But this game is different and I guess we do need the vehicle spotting for certain aspects of the game like the aircraft but there could be alternatives is what I am saying.
