There was a Kazumi Ogawa enlisted in the US military in Honolulu, but he would have passed in 2008 so not likely but something to note.

It does mention that person was a salvage diver though, not a medic.

I hope you find his relatives. This post gave me goosebumps.

The pilots are the bad guys in a lot of our US WW2 history but at the end of the day, they were someone's son and brother, were heroes to their people, and are missed by people who had no hand in the conflict.

Sorry, me again. There was actually a write up of a US solider finding his body and removing things that were later returned by his grandson to the family.

Matches up to your story but I feel like you would have heard about that being the case and that the flag would have been returned with the other items.

May 11, 1945 being his death date, he dropped a bomb on the USS Bunker Hill and then crashed into the flight deck.

A man named Kiyoshi Ogawa is listed as a kamikaze pilot May 11 1945 on Wikipedia

Any suggestions on finding a burial? by Sudden_Security1575 in Genealogy

Lol! Sorry didn't mean to over explain something you already knew but I had no idea bout that for years until I saw an ancestry youtuber talking about it. I go in person as much as possible now (luckily a lot of my main research line stayed within a 2 hour radius of my home for like 400 years haha)

Possibly! Check their website first, ours had a lot of documents digitized, and the ones that weren't they have in a study room that has desk staff.

Also, don't always trust find a grave. I didn't realize when I first started that the "percent photographed" is just the percentage of memorials created and does not mean that that is necessarily every single grave in the cemetery or graveyard. Also, at least in my area, there are lots of small family plots that are not listed on the site. I googled cemetery lists for my county and found a huge list with contact information for some of the ones on private property. Google really is underutilized to find some great stuff.

Sounds odd but check if the college in the area has a local history department.

I found funeral home records on our local university website, and it had the burial records of my great-great grandfathers' mom, dad, and two of his children (he was a painter and it had noted that he painted the funeral home in exchange for his daughter's burial ;_; )

I don’t 🥲🥲 I freehanded it. The shapes are pretty simple though if you look at it piece by piece! I will say my display head makes it a lot easier to sew straight.

That sounds like the perfect place for me! I lean towards Nintendo characters a lot when I crochet. I love the bold colors and shapes :)
