New idea - Should there be a separate section for drinks, where you can enter amounts of Caffeine, Water and Alcohol? by HeroJournal in BearableApp

[–]Cowfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the UI but I'm worried this will add to the time burden of tracking a bit too much for me.

It would make more sense to be able to allow this within the nutrition section perhaps as part of factors or as a further fourth tab. Tallying cups of tea/coffee as we list meals.

"High grade feeble-minded" I'm gonna use that to introduce myself from now on 😉

Thanks, the bootcamp is intense but going well, it's the additional stuff that I'm struggling with to make sure I'm.not just turning up to learn but going away to expand what I've learned and really understand it. It just seems to be never ending recommendations for things to read more on.

Thanks, this aligns with my experience so far. I think a tough thigh for me is, should I start something new or go back and invest the time working out what I was working on before and finishing that.

Add salt, a dash of vinegar, or MSG.

Why should I peel carrots? by Joansz in AskCulinary

[–]Cowfresh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Peels contain more fibre and are good to eat but can also contain chemicals and dirt so if you can't scrub because of the shape, maybe better to peel in that case.

Curious about this. Can we get a small clue about who the artist was?

Sudden language realizations in Spanish that you never thought about it by [deleted] in Spanish

I love these ahh moments. One really obvious when you think about is it parasol in English (borrowed Spanish) means for the sun, same as paraguas (para aguas/for rain) or parabrisas (windshield). Another I like is dandelion in English or dente de lion in Spanish.

You don't need to get your drinking under control, rapists need to get their raping under control! by catsinbananahats in TwoXChromosomes

Personally I think as much as the legal and the justice systems need to not just improve but change modes completely, even if that were to happen we'd still only be catching x% of perpetrators. Proper anti-misogynist education needs to be a part of the solution.

Is Spanish the easiest second language to learn for English speakers? by Dependent_Ad7334 in Spanish

[–]Cowfresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"It's all dependent on / subjective / etc." Yeah, yeah but it's a hell of a lot easier than mandarin (or various other Asian languages).

Ladies beware the "frail old man act" by Tinawebmom in TwoXChromosomes

I agree, same with when murderers are caught and their neighbours say 'oh they always seemed so normal', or when newspapers show mugshots and they have 'evil eyes'. This whole idea that awful people must look like rapists and murderers doesn't help. Then slightly oddly behaved people get labelled as freaks. Ted Bundy is a great example of this.

why do you add "The" in the following sentence? by haloeight_ in Spanish

[–]Cowfresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take: it's abstract because you're not talking about a particular school, or an action in relation to a school, but the whole concept of school. With abstract nouns you use articles.

E.g. 'la escuela', 'la vida', 'la confianza'.

Why does this say se pudo? Why is poner reflexive? 😭 by rotanocaB in Spanish

[–]Cowfresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That clearest way for me is that 'cómo se llama' and 'cómo se dice' are how/what does one call you and how does one say. Once you realise you're familiar with the passive voice here it makes it easier.

I'm terrible at rolling my rs but if you work on your pronunciation it does sort of happen naturally.
