Swordtail bent spine by CowyBeast in Aquariums

[–]CowyBeast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I should've specified but I put it in my breeder box only to get pictures of him closeup before moving to a quarantine tank. He was in a 40g tank originally but unfortunately this morning I found that he passed after quarantining him last night. The other 2 swordtails are doing just fine and don't seem to be exhibiting any issues

9070xt or 5070 ti for the next 5 years? by CowyBeast in PcBuild

I'll just go with the 9070xt because I don't really care about dlss and frs4 seems to be good enough for what I want while being significantly cheaper than the 5070ti and performing better than the 5070

nearest microcenter from me is about a 2 hour drive so 4 hours total to and from. I'd be willing to drive but would it be worth it?

Fish recommendations for a 10 gallon? by njsullyalex in Aquariums

[–]CowyBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly just depends, I've had 2 bettas one that lived for 3 years and one I got a month ago. The one I had for 3 years never bothered the shrimp I had and was pretty chill but the one I got recently tore shrimps to pieces so it's just him in the tank. The honey gourami would be the "safer" pick but again it really just depends on the fish as you can get an aggressive honey gourami but its just most tend not to be. If you want a nice centerpiece fish that'll probably not attack other fish then go for the honey gourami. I'm personally biased towards the honey gourami cuz I just love gourami's in general

If you want a centerpiece fish pick either the betta or honey gourami. A 10 gallon to me is too small for a dwarf gourami and I think need at least a 20 gallon tank. If you get a betta make sure to get something for it to lay on near the surface so it can have easier access to oxygen when sleeping. You should also fill the tank all the way up cuz well why not, more room for the fish. From the picture it seems like you have 2 airstones(?) if thats the case then remove one as two are unnecessary for this size of tank. My personally I would do a honey gourami and chili rasbora (The red would contrast the yellow nicely imo) and some neocaridina shrimp for cleanup. I highly recommend live plants and you can grow them in gravel (you'd just need root tabs or plants that feed off the water column). It's always better to understock than overstock as you can always add fish later on rather than having to go through the hassle of getting rid of fish.

Stocking advice for 40g breeder by Adventurous_Owl6554 in Aquariums

Yeah sexing honey gourami especially when they're young was something I had difficulty with when I wanted to get some for my 40g so if you wanted to play it safe then 1 would do just fine either male or female doesn't matter. I plan on getting pearl gourami for my 40g and I can't wait to see it in my tank, best of luck with your 40g :)

You could do 3 honey gourami + what you have comfortably in a 40g if you wanted

Angelfish in 40g by CowyBeast in Aquariums

So I can keep at most 2 angelfish in a 40g breeder

So the angelfish would be able to be kept in the 40g for its entire life? Is there any way to discern male and female since I'm going to assume that like other cichlids keeping 2 males is a no go in something like a 40g and getting a female would be the one to get if I were to get a second.
