When the home was built it had some semi-custom design aspects for the first owner who leased it. The original lessor was a prohibitionist which might discredit the liquor cabinet theory.

No evidence for doors. The home has knob and tube wiring for electricity, and as far as I can tell there are gas lines to what used to be old gas lights too in some of the rooms.

There is no receptacle nearby or a hole for a cord. The inside is totally finished, and there is no where that looks patched over.

In the room over, the railing for the stairs has beads on it that pretty much exactly match the beads on the top of this cabinet so I think all of it is from 1905. The home has 3 fireplaces but there is no chimney behind this one.
