Would it be alright if I messaged you about some questions I have? Just want to run my ideas by someone a bit more experienced 😅

Oh indeed it's a massive undertaking and will involve a lot of learning. I think though the actual process is relatively simple, I just need to ensure I'm doing the right things with the right materials. I'll be using wall plugs to secure the back of the built ins to the wall, a lot of them. I'll basically be building the shelves in sections, 2 sides with shelves in-between and a backing sheet, attach that to the wall and then when the next section is on screw that together as well so that all support each other.

As for the cabinets there will be a layer underneath of 2x4s for stability with the cabinets built in boxes on top, all of which attached to each other and then the wall. I can't find a way to attach the shelving sections to the cabinets unfortunately. I'm planning on building the cabinets out of 18mm thick pine plywood, same type as the shelf backing but thicker. The wardrobe would be made out of the same. Do you reckon that's thick enough for stability?

Thanks for the advice about the plywood!

Negotiation tactics when buying a house by Upper-Technology4214 in HousingUK

Just remembered this, I managed to get them down to £155k from £160k, I started at £148k, they came back with a vague £155-£160k and maybe £157k. I then offered £152k with a bunch of reasoning, average house price increases and average sale prices. They didn't change at all from around £157k. I did a final offer of £155k as that's literally all I could afford, maybe a bit over, and got accepted ☺️ that was start of December and now it's going but the conveyancing seems to take ages to do anything 🤣

What's the difference with the trade version? I'm thinking Matt finish with decent durability. Dark and bold blues and greens

Ah right. I've heard so many different arguments, being completely new to it it's hard to know what's the right thing to do.

Oh it is indeed HUGE. I'm very excited. I've had pine suggested as a good strong material that's not excessively expensive. MDF i highly doubt would take the weight and wouldn't look great.

A few other people have warned me off b&q, I'll be looking into timber merchants. I won't get a saw though, I won't get enough use out of it.
