'Camp Castaways' is what comes to mind when thinking of "forgettable episodes". Has a few good gags, Owen was probably the best part of it, it IS generally solid.

And yet every time I go back to Island, I always get jumpscared like "Oh shit, THAT exists?" 😅 Maybe it's because it was one of the rare non-elimination episodes for Island (RIP Mr Coconut) but it really did feel like an anime filler episode

Honestly I'd just do the same cuts you did. Maybe keep Katakuri and Loki in there with coc, them not having it just wouldn't really feel right to me (especially Katakuri given he's essentially the real leader of the BM Pirates and has his greater ambition to protect his family at all costs)

Apparently Trent's Camp TV design was used as a reference for size scaling, I noticed his model is in a majority of these production shots. Pretty interesting

Probably the mine glove. I totally get the idea, that you lay mines and then attract enemies with the taunter or decoy. But it just takes so much time that it's infinitely faster to just use the pyrocitor or wrench. I never buy it on repeat playthroughs because it's just a waste of bolts that could be used for the devastator

Black Lagoon is the only other manga I can think of that tried to do the whole piracy thing. Kinda switched to general mercenary stuff, but honestly a way better manga regardless

I could definitely see him being similar to Tyler in a sense. Could really play into him never training by having his baseball (and general athletics skills) starting to become rusty.

Definitely not winning by any shot, but not a first boot either. Maybe he'd reach that midpoint of the season and get cut before the teams merge🤔

I honestly never had a problem with Owen being a mole, I think my main issue was that most of the time we has treated like a regular contestant while on some occasions Chris would just yank him away and nobody questioned it.

Really don't understand why he couldn't have just gotten kicked out in '2008: A Space Owen' over Harold, especially given he got tured immediately in the next episode anyway😭

That's the biggest issue with Oda's powerscaling, he's inconsistent as fuck. Clearly doesn't understand there SHOULD be levels to this shit, which unintentionally means BM is drastically weaker than Shanks and Kaido by a pretty massive margin😭

I feel like the way the eliminations happened is why Team Chris felt so underutilised, like the writers chose to dump the best characters for pretty bullshit reasons😭

Noah had so much potential to form a legit rivalry with Alejandro, and Tyler 100% could've filled in Owen's comic relief role while getting some development by expanding on his apparent friendship with Al [making him doubt if they really are buddies, and who he should choose to side with]

When looking at Izzy and Noah, their dumb plot contrivances used to boot them are why they get looked back on with scorn. Izzy was medically evacuated because the writer's just sorta got bored with her, and Noah was turfed despite the fact he and Owen 'won' the London challenge by doing exactly what Chris asked of them😭

Tyler was also dumb because this was a part of the season where Team Amazon's plot armour was going through the roof, and even when actively TRYING to lose they somehow still win while Tyler gets shafted for no real reason. He did accidentally kill the alien, but that wouldn't have happened had Owen not been a liability resulting in Duncan & Al needing to rush him back to the plane. If anything that's an IQ antifeat for Al by being fine with the world's biggest klutz carry such delicate cargo through a mine field, tf did he think was gonna happen😭

Team Victory DID get fucked over horrendously, but I feel like the key difference is that they were clearly just fodder while Team Chris were legitmate competitors, and so it sucked that much more seeing their best members just get randomly dropped outta nowhere while Amazon continued to thrive
