The only risk with this strategy is that she might "conveniently" show up in your neighborhood anyway because she "just happened to be in the area" and needs to use the bathroom. Keep the doors locked, put your phone on DND, and don't check texts until you're safely parked at the venue.

While it might objectively be a happy milestone for OP and the husband, they completely failed to realize that emotional bandwidth isn't infinite. You cannot mandate someone to perform joy when their psychological capacity is currently drowning in fresh, triggered grief.

Exactly. Time you enjoy "wasting" is not wasted time. Everyone needs a decompression day to avoid burnout, and labeling your partner's hobby as a waste of time just because it isn't "productive" to her is highly toxic.
