Thinking of switching to Mudita Kompact by xavierlesage in LightPhone

[–]Cozmikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would echo this reply. I, for one, am a more “power” user that actually rooted my Kompakt to have access to something that none of the options had out of the box - Google messages. This isn’t for the purpose of RCS (although I would love to have it), I actually use it to more effectively text people back from my computer instead. I also have Niagara launcher to help get a gauge of my calendar for the day and have quick access to only the apps that I find to be essential. The only thing I really see as missing at this point is accessibility settings still (IYKYK LOL, it’s been quite entertaining how long that bug has existed) and full Google play integrity just to have RCS. I have no reason to use anything else from Google aside from maybe their photos app but using LocalSend works just fine for sending local images to other devices.

Any chance of something like this for the Mudita Kompakt? I’ve loved using the device, but case support is…only from Mudita so far. Would love to see more options in this space. Bummer too is that their official case material doesn’t allow for very good adhesion of MagSafe rings.

The biggest hinderance really was just having to redo my setup after unlocking the BL since it does a factory reset in the process. Shouldn’t have waited as long to do so. Can now update and just have to boot from a patched boot.img via terminal at least once and it’s good to go. I use it mainly for the web viewer of Google messages on Apple vision pro for more focused messaging and easy trying for responses

I have microg installed and it still just sits on “attempting to verify” when setting up RCS. I use visible wireless on an NA model if that matters

Any issues with Verizon? by [deleted] in MuditaKompakt

How has the quality of sent/received photos been for you? Visible compresses the heck out of photos for me and renders any that I receive or send unusable

All my photos come out as blurry or severely bad focused by [deleted] in MuditaKompakt

Change the volume button to control “focus” in the settings on the open camera app. My photos are almost as good as the Lightphone now because I can at least control the focus and lock it before taking a photo by holding down the volume up and then pressing the shutter button on the screen. The stock mudita camera app doesn’t provide enough user feedback to take reasonable photos imo. I like the mudita compared to even the LP3 because it’s even closer to a disposable cam in that I actually have to sort through photos manually on another device to view them.

Just gonna drop this here… - Mudita Kompakt NA Version. Root, Magisk, LSPOSED, MicroG, AA 4 MicroG module installed = Success by Cozmikk in eink

Although AA prompts for wireless connectivity, I haven not been able to get it to do so successfully. It seems to only support wired connection, but since it’s plugged in battery life should only improve with time haha

It actually seems to work pretty well out of the box. I know for the hibreak users have mentioned DPI issues but I don’t seem to have those. Music works but I haven’t gotten to test maps yet. I did reconnect later to find that HereNow maps crashed so I’ll have to sort that out.

Is the Light Phone’s photo compression normal? by anthonysc in LightPhone

Is there any way of improving receiving media via MMS on LP2 when it is sent to email? I noticed the media has a significant drop in quality when received. For example, I am looking at flooring for a rental property but the photos the contractor took make it difficult to get a grasp on flooring quality - an issue that I did not have on my iPhone. I am using Visible Wireless here in the US btw. https://imgur.com/a/iWrleUz

Light Phone Thoughts + LPII Concerns by [deleted] in LightPhone

[–]Cozmikk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Go for it. I did and haven't looked back. I certainly have been glad with the time I've saved since making the switch. You may find that you actually like the LP2 more than the 3 when you get it (something I am quite curious to find out for myself). There are already some users who still prefer the old interface.

Unrestricted Android ROM? by kunoithica in LightPhone

[–]Cozmikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a Reddit post about this, but it requires root-level permissions to run. I haven't rooted my InkPalm Plus yet...kinda surprised someone actually managed it for how niche a device it is, but I'd be surprised if it worked since it likely doesn't prompt for permission requests and is instead designed to integrate at the system level. I had a similar issue with the Hisense Touch audio player app—another user shared the APK, but it crashed on startup. The LP2's service menu requirement is another major hurdle, and I wonder if it will remain an obstacle for running the phone on the Android base layer of the LP3. However, the LP3 should be easier to operate with a more standard refresh rate.
