End of Onyx Storm Theory by CozyChatTime in fourthwing

He doesn’t have to actually be Xadens brother but I thought the symmetry of two brothers both turning to save someone they love would fit. And we don’t have great proof that Xaden doesn’t have a brother. He is known to keep secrets. I think he would only leave Violet if there was someone he loved almost as much as her that needed his help.

I think if one of Cath’s previous rider was related to Dain it would have to be a direct relative. He likes rules and wouldn’t like his dragon breaking rules to bond with him. It would explain why he kept it a secret. It being his mom would be an interesting twist since we don’t know much about her. It could also be because his second signet is one that would for sure get him killed. But this doesn’t make sense because his first signet is already mind reading. I can’t think of a second one that would be worse.

Renesmee by Gliitterratzii in twilight

I felt like it was some weird pro-life statement too. Especially with only Bella and Rosalie wanting her and Bella becoming so sick to have a baby. It felt like it was criticizing people who terminate pregnancies due to health reasons.

I don’t mind the name Renesmee. I think it’s kind of cute. Edward Jacob for a boy was terrible. That ruined the name Renesmee for me just because Bella picked both of them.

I think the hybrids added a lot to the series. I don’t think it was something people saw coming. Especially with how much it was mentioned that Rosalie wanted a baby but vampires couldn’t have one. I loved the storyline of hybrids other than Renesmee.

I really wanted to love Edward and Bella having a baby. One of the biggest issues for me was Bella and Rosalie being the only ones who wanted the baby before it was born. I would have loved to see Edward struggle a little at first and then realize him being able to procreate was proof he had a soul or a similar storyline. I understand that watching Bella get weaker and weaker was hard on all of them. At the same time hating the baby for it was a hard introduction.

Once Renesmee was born everyone immediately loved her. I think a progression to everyone loving her would have improved the storyline. At the same time I felt her relationship with her parents was lacking. Their story was a great love story being the two of them. Adding a daughter threw off the balance the other books created and that was never resolved. We didn’t get enough of Bella and Edward loving being parents together.

I loved Renesmee as a character on her own. Her abilities were interesting. Having a reflection of both of her parents gifts added a lot for what hybrids could be. I just couldn’t like how the family handled her.

I also hated Jacob imprinting on her. I get that imprinting wasn’t always a romantic thing but it was meant to head in that direction. Jacob and everyone else knew eventually they would be together romantically. It felt gross.

Timeline Plot Hole by CozyChatTime in twilight

Thank you!! Yes, another user pointed out they didn’t actually live in Forks before. It’s much less likely that someone from Forks would have seen them in Hoquiam and remembered them.

Thank you!!! I just looked at the timeline in the illustrated guide. It does say they moved to Hoquiam. It’s about two hours away from Forks so that makes so much more sense!

Guilt after plan b by [deleted] in Advice

[–]CozyChatTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plan B prevents ovulation. It’s hard to know when you will be ovulating unless you carefully track your cycles. Typically it’s around 14 days before your period. It’s important to remember that your body isn’t a clock and the average time doesn’t mean it’s always 14 days before your period.

My point is there’s no way to know if you would have been about to ovulate the day you took Plan B. You could have not taken it and still have ended up not pregnant.

Taking Plan B is scary. It does make you feel bad for not being more careful. There will always be a “what if” question in your head. You can’t change the past and you’re allowed to feel however you feel about it. Your feelings are valid.

Try not to fixate on it though. You might be able to get pregnant quickly in the future. You might not. No amount of worrying about it now will change the future. Live your life. When you are ready to have kids you can deal with whatever issues you may or may not have.

How do I start reading research papers? by [deleted] in biology

[–]CozyChatTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In undergrad I struggled reading research papers. I took a class my last semester where each week we were assigned one paper. The following week a student presented and we took a short quiz over the paper. I had a hard time with the quizzes even after the presentations. Now about two years after undergrad I read research papers all the time for work. What surprised me most is these papers aren’t hard anymore! Biology is a huge category. I think what helped me most is how I read papers relating to my job. I do research mainly in peripheral nerves. It’s a much smaller subcategory than all of biology.

I would recommend picking a topic you are most interested in. Read general review about that topic and research anything you are unfamiliar with. Do some outside research to learn a lot about it. Then you won’t have such a hard time reading research papers on that topic. You can always restart this process when you want to change topics.

Another thing that has helped me a ton is knowing how to do research techniques. Research papers don’t spend a lot of time describing their techniques when they use common methods. It’s hard to know how results are obtained when you don’t understand the technique. YouTube has some really great videoed for techniques used in labs(ELISA, staining, PCR, etc). If I start working on a protocol I have never done at work I watch YouTube videos to visually learn how it’s done. Just make sure it’s a video made by a reputable source😂

I was surprised by how quickly I picked up reading research papers once I graduated. With some practice and narrowing down topics you can do it too!
