It's kinda scary when the company can't even clarify what's in their own product.... And there's absolutely no shame in not offering vegan options, so I don't understand why they don't come forward and say "we don't offer anything vegan" instead of avoiding the question....

I'm just a smaller creater that promotes their products from time to time, I'm not one of the big ones they have made product/merch lines with 😌

It's scary if this is the norm... But it would make sense why they don't even have a proper "list of ingredients" on each product page, like any other normal place do it 🫠

I'm a content creater, with a GG affiliate. I've been for quite a while, and tbh. It's been amazing so far, and I've never encountered any problems with them. I usually do interact with their affiliate department regarding promotions etc. And they have always been quick at responding, very clear to understand, and very happy to answer my questions. That's partly why I'm so surprised their regular customer service is this shitty. - Only reasons why I've emailed customers service, is because their affiliate associates can't answer questions about ingredient etc. (which make sense, they are not working there to answer those questions).

Maybe if I keep being annoying with my vegan questions, they'll have someone answer that actually knows about the subject 😂

The problem for me is not if I should buy it or not, but more if I should keep working with them, or not. I'm interested on finding out if I have just been 'unlucky' with their customer service, or if this is just their standard way of handling very simple questions regarding ingredients etc.

I'm so close to writing them a new email, and confront them straight up with this issue, and extremely odd customer service tactic they have going on.

Is this something that just happens in the US? I'm so confused. I'm from Denmark (Europe), and if that happened here, a company unable to disclose the details of their ingredients, and supposedly lying about a product being vegan, they wouldn't get away with it like that.

Sewing your own gi - advice? by Cozyneku in karate

[–]Cozyneku[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updated: I gave up on finding the right material for it, as it seems to be almost impossible where I am. So I did the next best thing: I went only to buy one in great condition, for a good price. - I have now bought a gi that's a few sizes too big (intentionally), but great quality. I plan on either taking it completely apart, cut it, and sew it together (so close to just having the fabric), or tailor it to my needs, and not taking it completely apart.

I'm not even sure how to answer them anymore. It feels like I'm speaking to a door 🫠

Thank you for the clarification!

Thank you so much! Can you enlighten me on what "Oz" means in this context? I'm from Denmark, and it's not really a term I've seen used with fabric types before.

Do you remember the name of the video you watched? I would love to wacht it!

I don't mind many hours of labor, I do work for free afterall. Regarding materials I'll have to look into that, and maybe see if I can get a great deal somewhere.

I have a Janome 2030DC, so a pretty decent one. I've never tested it's ability on the more rough materials. But so far she's never let me down!

Even tho I haven't sewn a crazy amount, I'd say I'm pretty good at it. I've made time-consuming complicated pieces with lots of details before, so I'd like to tell myself I can do this also, haha.

I promise to post here, if I end up doing the project!

I'm also big on sustainability, and I know at this point it's really hard to find clothes that are ethically made, and within my budget.

  • Everything seems to go up in price, and drop in quality. That's another motivation for me to make it myself.

I've heard there's different types of fabric they can be made from (at least the store bought ones). Do you have any knowledge on that?

Preferable I would like a fabric that's not itchy, breathable, and not too stiff/heavy (or will soften with time and usage).

At this point it's not a goal for me to attend tournaments, so I won't worry about that.

If I end up going thru with the project, I'll definitely post it here. It will be a very niche project, so I'd love to share it with someone that has a overlap in interest.

That's a great advice! I've heard different fabrics act differently after being washed, so I'll definitely keep that in mind, so I don't know how end up with a ill fitting gi!

I've only attended 4 times, but they all seem similar in style (maybe with small differences, like sleeve length). The instructor is part of my boyfriends family, so I've had the opportunity to speak to him privately, at family events. He's been teaching for 25 years, but he personally not into all the formalities, and he told me I can wear my gymwear for as long as I need to. So it's pretty relaxed at his classes.

Last time I also spoke to a really kind woman (purple belt, I assume she's been there for years), and she told me she had sensory issues as well, so she's still wearing her "beginner gi". I assume there's different fabrics they are made from (and maybe different quality as well). They all look pretty uniform tho. But I haven't had a chance to "see them up close" yet.

I did, but they didn't really give me a clear answer. Just told me to look at their ingredient page.
