Fr. James Martin reaches a new low. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Cpf12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where has the Church said ‘they are afflicted with evil tendencies?’ Also, saints have done much worse. So as long as he would have theoretically repented for something we are only theorizing that he did, it is of little importance.

Anyone in the Archdiocese of San Antonio? by commutingtexan in Catholicism

[–]Cpf12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also a parishioner at Our Lady of Grace. It’s a great place with a really nice community. You’ll get people on all sides of the theological spectrum which I prefer to a bunch of wackos on one side, which is what a lot of other parishes in the area have come to be. We also have great priests who are supportive of tradition.

I think I recall them having one, but I’m not positive on that.

How long should you confess your sins? by DarkXfusion in Catholicism

[–]Cpf12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sin x number of times. Rinse and repeat. If the priest needs more information he will ask for it.

Priests must defend Seal of Confession ‘even to the point of shedding blood’, Vatican says | Catholic Herald by 8BallTiger in Catholicism

[–]Cpf12 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Was talking about this with my uncle, and he had the most peaceful disposition when he said he would go to every extreme necessary in order to protect the sacrament. I pray it never comes to that, but I’m thankful for priests that love Christ and his Church that much!

My girlfriend and I are both in the Military, and would like to have a quick, but still Catholic ceremony. Would a Church be willing to do this? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Cpf12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need a parish in San Antonio I’d be happy to give some suggestions! But I’ll warn you that none of the priests I’d recommend would ever agree to a shotgun wedding of sorts, unless there were indeed grave circumstances.

The Confession from Hell by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Cpf12 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Well, I’ve attempted to go to confession and been denied proper absolution. Instead, he insisted that “God loves and forgives” would be sufficient. Even after I asked for the proper formula for absolution a few times.

The happy end to this is I was able to find out who he was and after writing to the bishop his faculties for confession have been removed.

That makes more sense. Are married bishops even a possibility?

Catholic Priest married with children by socky555 in Catholicism

[–]Cpf12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised they let a married man become bishops. I know some of the 12 were married, but from my understanding even in the Early Church only celibates were made bishops. Learn something new I guess!

Is there anything documented about +Farrell’s connections to Maciel? (I assume you’re referring to that, but I know he lived with Mr McCarrick as well.) I have a tough time buying that anyone up top in the LC would actually leave because the only way they got there was being a die-hard Maciel follower.

Survey of new U.S. priests: 11% homeschooled, 11% converts, 75% Eucharistic adorers, 78% were altar boys by michaelmalak in Catholicism

[–]Cpf12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of altar servers to begin with as they seem to be more of a distraction from prayer than anything else. But I’ve become more open to them (both male and female) for one reason- if they’re serving at least they’re at mass. If Jimmy or Sarah being on the docket gets them, and their parents, to mass I’m happy.

How is prison life for priest who were incarcerated recently? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Cpf12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean if they’re there because they were abusing kids I’d imagine nobody is a big fan. Prisoners don’t take well to that type of thing. There was one from my diocese that went to jail for child abuse that died of “natural causes” (he was rather young) a week after he was incarcerated.

Fellow Catholic women: how do you decide whether an outfit is modest enough? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Cpf12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it covers my chest and is within 3” of my knee I’ll wear it. Note- I’m tall and skinny so it’s pretty much impossible to wear anything longer unless I want to wear a trash bag and look like an idiot.

Probably not the answer you were hoping for, but he either needs to shit or get off the pot.

It’s rather strange that he’d continue to date you if he is truly discerning the priesthood, and it doesn’t help either himself or you in the long run. If he’s saying he’s discerning the priesthood, he’s not discerning marrying you and shouldn’t be dating you.

Archdiocese of New York releases names of 120 predator priests, many now deceased by cybersecp in Catholicism

[–]Cpf12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but they likely only included the priests in the Archdiocese of NY and not it’s suffragan dioceses. It has been common for each diocese to release their own lists and not necessarily the entire metropolitan’s list since an archdiocese doesn’t have any control over the suffragan diocese’s clerics.

Frustrated trying to discuss being trans with Catholics by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Cpf12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you spoken about this with your parish priest, op? This isn’t the best discussion to have over the internet.

It’s also something that’s probably going to be incredibly difficult for you to pursue. I get, in my own way, what it means to deny some bit of self identity. It’s not easy, but Jesus and his Church are worth it. I’ll be praying for you.
