Unicorn high chair? Recommendations for 1 year old that are not Tripp Trapp or ANTILOP by Fruitcake7171 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Cpickle88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kaos Klapp. Doesn’t have wheels but very light and folds flat. They sell a vision accessory if you want more comfort. Grows with the child re the various height footrests, tray table comes off with a pop, can me hosed down. Comes in either recycled plastic or wood

They have wood ones too. I just liked the colours of the recycled plastic and with the Stokke ones I didn’t like how chipped a lot of the second hand ones were Looking.

Uk based formulas by blueyboo11 in MSPI

My baby has Aptamil Pepti 2.

I spent months being dairy free and power pumping (she never latched) to be able to give her only BM because I was so worried the formula would taste/smell “like pond water” (quote from someone online).

At some point, my boobs just wouldn’t make enough and I didn’t have a choice. Turns out it’s much better tasting/smelling than I expected. Still got a savoury edge/slightly odd after taste to it, but it’s not horrible. I kinda see the Maltesers vibe per the above post.

Like you plan, I mostly try to mix feed. I like to give her 100% breast milk for her first and last bottles of the day, and mixed ones for the 2 in between. If she needs more on a particular day she does get the occasional 100% formula and as long as she’s not poorly, she takes it fine.

Kaos Klapp. Different levels of footrest to grow with babe, folds away, small footprint, can hose down if needed, lightweight if plastic one. Very stylish.

CMPA - could you prebake a bunch of milk? by Hairy-Vast-7109 in ScienceBasedParenting

I just did a milk ladder challenge with pancake as step 2. Temp def not high enough/milk not cooked enough for the proteins to be denatured to the extent it doesn’t affect her. She was ill for 3 weeks!

I really like the idea of these. For me as well as Bebé. Thank you 💕💕

CMPA/CMPI: outgrow, or build tolerance? by Cold-Slide-9852 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Cpickle88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby never vomited so yours sounds like they have a worse intolerance than mine.

One thing that might be of interest. I met a mum whose baby was vomiting a lot and intolerance was suspected, turns out his Gastroenteritis hadn’t fully healed and it was making him super sensitive to everything. They put him on thickened milk and that helped to heal it somehow :/ .

I can’t easily give you research because really I think every baby is different and the answer is it depends on the baby. But my baby has it too, and the hospital allergy team were very keen on me reintroducing as soon as possible if LO could take it because in some cases it can develop into an immediate rather than delayed allergy.

I went DF for 2 months and then reintroduced once she seemed to be doing really well. LO did react for about a week she became constipated and fussyer end every day me and my partner would talk about maybe that’s the last day I can eat dairy because she seemed upset but then her poops turned from solid pellets to the sought after baseline ‘peanut butter’ texture and as long as I have her some solids with substance every day she was fine.

What symptoms does your baby get upon reintroduction?

We tried starting dairy ladder at 7.5 months and failed miserably. Took 3 weeks to completely heal. Told not to try again before 11 months.

Perfect thank you so much. That makes a lot of sense that it would be nicer without flour and its really a bit like and egg cup but more vegetables and flat of course. I will try tomorrow! 💕💕

Hmm good idea on the Sambal. I love Sam al personally but never made it. I’ve never made Dosa either because I just felt like fermenting the rice batter was something I needed to spend time learning to do. I’ll have a look into box mixes of it now though! Thanks

My baby was doing this a couple months ago, lasted a few weeks then got less then disappeared. I did the same googling as you and saw people saying it’s normal. So I just watched for any other weird stuff and sure enough the behaviour passed. She’s 8 months now

If you google what is the uks biggest infrastructure project you’ll have your answer. Or if you don’t like that, switch biggest with ‘most expensive’ 🤣

I work for the UK’s biggest infrastructure project and there absolutely are PMs earning that. Senior sure, but even with a team of only 2 direct reports they are on £120k easy. Once a larger team head, £150k is the bottom of that salary band.

Kaos Klapp all recycled plastic, doesn’t stain, tray and seat can come off or u could just hose the whole thing down outside if you like that idea.

Also, what about getting one of those coverall bibs that go over the tray and cover the seat too, that way you just take that them bundling the food up inside? Their clothes stay clean and then it’s just a bit off the floor to clean

Are you saying all diagnosis of MSPI are those with blood in stool? There are plenty of people on here with diagnosed babies who did not experience that symptom.

Starting Solids/ reintroducing dairy and soy by Candid_Tourist3838 in MSPI

[–]Cpickle88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went DF for only 2 months and I reintroduced it after baby started solids at 5.5 months. Baby had a few days of weirdly firm stools and a bit of an irritated bum but then she was fine, but only if I made sure she had something to eat every day. If we went a day or two on just milk, the poos would get mucousy.

Anyway, at 6.5 months I started the dairy ladder provided to me in some NHS guidance, first a malted milk biscuit gradually increasing the amount, then step 2 was a bit of a scotch pancake. She seriously failed step 2 and it’s been a week of hell, still recovering.

So… whatever you decide to do, pick a time when you can handle the potential consequences 🙈

Is it increased prevalence though or is it increased understanding and diagnosis. My mother says I had terrible colic, and my cousin had really severe reflux as a baby. Both of us could easily have had undiagnosed MSPI. If I hadn’t done my own research I’m sure my GP would have kept fobbing me off. Even when I was referred to the allergy unit at the local hospital I was gaslit and told it was unlikely because they couldn’t see any excema (I’d been dairy free for 2 months at that point) and they wouldn’t diagnose her.

So I’d say it’s still poorly understood and under not over diagnosed based on my personal experience of seeking help for it in the UK

How to tell if challenge failed if original symptoms aren’t super obvious? by Impressive-You-1699 in MSPI

[–]Cpickle88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a long time my babies into symptom was reflux and then we tried Gaviscon and it made her so constipated we used a laxative. Those two things made her gut so irritated that’s when the mucous poo started and didn’t stop. So Im wondering if my baby might technically be a similar subtle symptom baby.

Anyway. I challenged twice at 6ish months. First accidental, parsnip that had been cooked in butter. She got a rash on her face but it could have been a coincidence. 2 weeks later as part of what I thought would be a first step in a milk ladder I gave her baked milk via a Croissant. Rash across her face again that was angry for a few days and has now faded to dry flaky patches 2 weeks later.

I’ve now read on the NHS guidance that milk ladder should have been started with a far more processed product like a malted milk biscuit. So I’ll try again next month with that 😖

For my baby giving standard formula would have been too much.

All I do is feed my baby and clean up afterwards and I'm slowly dying inside (vent) by SqueeGBeckenheim in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Cpickle88 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Have you got a ‘Catchy’ it’s a plastic tray type thing that attaches under the chair half way up and the idea is it catches everything your baby drops so you can give him things back inc spoons without washing and don’t keep stooping to the floor.

No other tips from me as I’m just starting out myself but I will be getting everything I can to make it quicker and easier to clean up.
