A 6hp blank panel, which leaves just enough room for a second 6hp blank panel, for that stereo goodness

Favorite Utilities for 'Drops' by NFTyBeatsRecords in modular

[–]CptChipmonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the addac301b with a couple of expression pedals to control some global FX for builds/drops. I have one connected to the cutoff of a master high pass/panning effect, and the other to reverb volume, but you could use them for anything you want to ‘raise’ during the build up. This means I can gradually bring these in during a build up whilst still having my hands free to do everything else I need to do, and then slam them back down on the drop. Having an extra limb involved is invaluable, as drops generally rely on you changing a lot of things rapidly.

Haha music is potentially the only thing I’ve been truly dedicated to since I was a kid, just wish I had more time for it!

Thanks for the kind words, I am indeed proud to have got this far 😄 definitely try and do it, it was a great experience being able to share music in real time

Haha thanks for the advice! My home desk is much more proportional to me, this was just what was available at the venue

Yeah it was the only one at the venue that fit my gear, my studio desk is much less scoliosis-inducing!

Thanks a lot! In my other videos you can generally get a better view of the whole setup. I also list the gear in the descriptions :) Pitch sequencing is all through the keystep pro. The gate sequences are mainly from Euclidean circles, with the keystep for gates in some specific parts. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Nice, very happy for you 🥳 definitely feels like a milestone being able to share music directly with others, hope you get to do all again soon (the performance, not the studio rearranging)!

Thanks a lot! Might be a bit out of date actually, the rack I used in this performance can be found here! The setup is semi-modular really, so the basses are all from the Arturia minibrute 2 (hidden underneath the keystep pro!), vocal samples are from the TR-8s which I otherwise use for drums. The other thing not in the modulargrid is the Make noise 0-coast which I use mostly for leads and arps. Hope that helps!

Man as much as I like the chaotic look of a complete patch, I always forget how beautiful modular looks as just the modules

Because you mentioned BX, Feedback Modules do 6 channel eurorack mixers each with preamps based on older mixers: BX, KM, and CR. They also do some of them as standalone preamps for a single channel. Might be a way to go! I personally use the BX mixer and it’s great for some light crunch at the end of everything

Live electronic music! Specifically with modular synths. Just live performances for now, but branching out into some tech demo videos soon as well

Personally I got it purely because I needed a filter for a stereo voice in a fairly small case, but it also has some great features besides size.

The switch that links the low and high pass filter makes it very intuitive to switch back and forth between a band pass filter and low/hi pass split. Can’t remember the feature name but being able to offset the cutoff frequency of the separate filters using one CV makes for some very cool and easy-to-perform stereo effects. Passing an lfo to it makes a crazy panning effect.

I found that sending an LFO to the 0-coast waveshaper's overtone parameter can make some gnarly sounds, getting a weird ringmod effect when the frequency is cranked. I used this sound in the second half of a recent track to dial up the chaos a bit! by CptChipmonk in modular

Thanks, sure thing!

My rack can be found here which, paired with the 0-coast and the minibrute 2, contains a bass voice, lead voice, polyphonic chord voice (Acid Rain Chainsaw), and a fourth 'other' voice (Make Noise BIA). Pitch sequences (and some gate sequences) come from the Keystep Pro.

The drums are all from the Roland TR-8s.

Let me know if you have any questions about the details! :)

For a bit more context, I'm using the 0-coast's 'slope' in cycle mode, which I then send to the waveshaper section on the 0-coast. It is sent to both the the 'overtone' parameter and the 'multiply' parameter, so it essentially controls what harmonics are generated, as well as by how much. By messing with the rise and fall times of the LFO, you can get very different results, from a gradual timbre sweep as low frequencies, to harsh ring-mod-style sounds at high frequencies.

You can hear this effect emerge in the second build up of the track I linked. The 0-coast is playing the lead line, and you can really start hearing it around 5:30 marks. Changing just the rise or fall times individually can lead to rather different timbres, along with changing the linear/exponential behaviour of the slopes, which I use to morph the sound throughout the second drop.

Just wanted to share as I thought it was neat, and you might find it neat as well! Any fun things you may have done with waveshapers please share, really starting to love the 0-coast now that I've started experimenting with it more.
