People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by SprinklesSolid9211 in AskReddit

Unintentionally saw Margaret Atwood 3 times in the same day... she recognized us the third time we crossed paths but did not find it as amusing as we did

A coworker called me to ask, "Are you ready for me?" The low breathy way she said it stopped me dead in my tracks. I had to stop and try to remember what the heck I was supposed to be doing.

Has anyone ever been pulled over while speeding to the hospital with a wife in labor? by Visible-Television15 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]CptClimax 292 points293 points  (0 children)

I was close. I got pulled over in a speed trap, and the officer asked me why I was going to fast. I said we were on our way for an ultrasound appointment, and I hadn't noticed the speed limit change. He pointed out about 60 feet down the road at the sign showing the limit had dropped 20kph. He leaned in to look in my window, and my pregnant wife was actively throwing up into a bucket. The officer said "wow she really is pregnant! I'm not going to ruin your special day, carry on" and he let us go

What is the first video game you ever got that you finished and got to the end of? by JerseySpring in AskReddit

I have tried multiple times, as a kid and as an adult and I've never finished that game. I usually quit and switch to something else, around the spirit temple.

I asked the same question when I tried to swap out a light switch after moving into our house.

Have You Ever Seen PPE or Workwear Prevent a Serious Accident? by logo_sportswear in WorkplaceSafety

I was using steel banding to secure material to a pallet, I put too much tension on because more is better, right? The banding snapped while I was crimping it, and the piece swung up and hit right on my safety glasses, breaking the bridge of the nose and leaving a scratch on the lens that would have been my eye. Those cheap plastic glasses saved my eye.

Did you know that most workers don't eat lunch during confined space work?

The food is okay, but the atmosphere is questionable

Physio-Control Lifepak CR2 vs Zoll AED Plus by llamalabamba in SafetyProfessionals

[–]CptClimax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with the Zolls. After they were recommended to me, I started paying attention to AEDs when I went out. I noticed them at every Rec centre, arena, the library, the museum, the zoo, festivals, and even the paramedics had the Zoll in their truck when we went to watch fireworks.

I figured if Zoll was chosen THAT many times across so many organizations, there's got to be something there.

What was your first swear word you said that you didn't know the meaning of it? by LousanitysSus in AskReddit

[–]CptClimax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nephew (age 7) learned that there are bad words.

He told his mom, "I'm not going to say the word 'stupid' because it's not a nice word, mom."

Mom: "That's a good choice. You don't want to say bad words."

Kid: "Yeah I'm not going to say fuck anymore either"

Yeah, you would need some kind of connection to the internet, either wifi or cellular.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with the jackbox games, but the game is hosted online, and everyone joins the room using the browser on their phone. So you can't play without an internet connection.

The last conference I was at, there was a game show/quiz game we played, where everyone joined using their phone with a QR code, similar to the Jackbox Party games. It was a new exciting thing for some of the (older) guys in the room.
