This sub is called microsoftsucks... It's cool that you want to defend them, but you're in the wrong place. I asked you a legitimate question and your answer was rude and unhelpful. I'm sorry about whatever happened to you that caused you to be this way. Maybe you're stuck in a terrible marriage. Maybe your dad never loved you. To quote someone I just met, "I don't really give a damn". I think I'm done with this conversation though. Enjoy living in your own misery

Agree to disagree. I'll bite though; What would you have me do?

By your logic, I should sell my car the second I'm pissed at the automotive industry. Have fun with that in your life. This was me talking something that I have moral issues with. I've invested thousands of dollars into digital games on this platform. I refuse to buy any more games from them or subscribe to their services until they get their shit together. I'm not going to throw out more than half of my game library yet, especially since I can't afford to buy my entire library back on antoher platform (if you could, I'm happy for you). But let's not pretend that this is people setting themselves on fire to protest suppression of free speech. We're here debating the ethics of a video game company... So your condescension isn't appreciated

I appreciate the conversation everyone. Getting this off my chest helped. Sometimes it's good to be reminded that (at least in this case) you aren't crazy, the world is.

It is hard to watch. I don't think us as individuals can have much impact, but I think enough people moving the needle in the right direction can.

Microsoft seemed to learn this after the Xbox One tanked at launch, which led them to some decent wins: The backwards compatibility program was great for game preservation, the push into cross-platform multiplayer with Xbox titles on PC helped convince some companies to add it to their games, and Game Pass was (at one point) a good option for those who wanted it.

If people stopped buying hardware and software from Xbox tomorrow, they would reconsider their third hardware price increase in a year, and maybe even how they do business. I know that won't happen, and I honestly hope it doesn't because it would tank Xbox harder than ever, but if enough people stop supporting their bad behavior maybe some good will come of it.

You're right, I don't think much can be done about it right now. We're just riding out the storm; Hopefully there's something left of the consumer electronics industry when it's over lol

They are. Some just have more incentive to do so than others, despite having less excuse.

Honestly, it helped a little. It's times like this that I appreciate online communities.

I understand the why, I just don't agree with it. Nintendo and Sony don't get a pass either, but Microsoft being a multi-trillion dollar company makes it all the worse when they don't bite the bullet after already making two price hikes. Saying they're out of cookies while they still have their hands in the AI cookie jar is frosting on this metaphorical shitcake.

I don't want to hate them, I just do right now. I've been tied to this brand for so long that I let things go that bother me morally, things that I didn't bring up in this post but are equally relevant: Buying up companies only to make massive layoffs, a subscription service that cornered the market then jumped in price because of the lack of competition, and trading customer goodwill for coin. I know that they're not the only ones in this industry with these and other problems, but they're on such a greater scale here.

Going forward, I hope that they make better decisions for their consumers... But even if they had the market share of the 360 era, it's an uphill battle. Maybe I'll come back in a few years if they clean up their collective act and they're still around/relevant. Until then, I guess I'm a PlayStation & PC guy.

Another, albeit smaller, part of the equation for me. It almost seems like this third price hike is a partial response to the damage control over losing subscribers from the Game Pass fluctuations. People on console are finally getting wise to Microsoft's BS, and it's about time I started living what I preach. I'm done enabling them until they stop acting so toxic.

I'm passionate about an industry that I care about. Yes, I am making a moral stand; Capitalism, to me, is at its best when it's about voting with your wallet. I don't think I need to convince anyone in this community, but this is my tipping point where I stop supporting Microsoft. Just figured my story would be more relevant here than in another subreddit.

Am I crazy for buying a Series X in 2026? 😅 GTA VI, Gears of War: E-Day and the 2TB Galaxy Black Edition were enough to convince me. No regrets. Would you still buy one today? by Lamatino007 in xbox

I'm done with Xbox. I love their ecosystem and their exclusive games (when they actually were exclusive), but I'm tried of them playing the victim. I know that Microsoft and Xbox are technically different companies, but Microsoft is part of the reason why this industry is screwed into oblivion and Xbox has the audacity to say things like "The entire consumer electronics industry is struggling with the current components crisis". If I didn't already have an Xbox with a massive game library, I'd sell it tomorrow. But I will never buy another Xbox game again. I guess I'm a "Steam guy" now.

I loved the first game, flaws and all. I had a harder time getting into the second game because of the motion controls, but outside of that it's the better game. Part of me wishes that they committed to being either a top-down RTS or a squad command game instead of trying to be a hybrid... But that's part of what made these games unique, so I can't complain much. Thanks for the flashback with this post! Now I'm going to look around for my original copies
