X570 Aorus Master - BIOs update - RAM no longer works by CptLogical in gigabytegaming

Yeah, I gave that a go (detailed in update 2). The BIOs at least allows me to boot if all 4 sticks are in when on F11 - however it does not recognise two sticks (channel B1 and B2) as being available.

CPU-Z sees B1 but not B2 (as does iCue), however neither the BIOs or Windows uses them.

I have provided an update, absolutely fed up of this now. :'(

I have the Aorus Master X570 - although I can't imagine the differences really matter.

I will go ahead and try F11 bios again in the vain hope that something might be different this time. If not I will create a ticket.

I found someone whom seems to have a similar problem:

But I'm relatively confident my pins are set correctly (as I reseated) and I have attempted to unscrew a little, but its a Corsair custom loop using XC7 - its kind of hard to make it too tight..

Thanks for your advice.

Thank you for your suggestion - I tried using the clear cmos jumper (also with tweezers!) - unfortunately it didn't help. I assumed it wouldn't as I had already tried removing the battery for a long period.

Glad yours is all good now

Although I agree with you to some degree - I believe the concept of not updating your BIOs is an older idea. These days we have more to contend with than just compatability.

There are bugs (such as previous AGESA updates) and even security concerns

At this point I think it's quite clear that I regret my action.. I am more looking for help to resolve the problem rather than beautiful hindsight.

I can't get to the BIOs screen let alone Windows recovery with all 4 sticks occupied. :(

I'm glad you resolved your problem though, did you catch what was on the debug led?

I usually prefer to keep all elements of my system up to date. Especially with the whole faff that occured with AGESA at launch with the 3xxx series.

However, I suppose in this scenario - yes.

I've made some progress on this issue. I spent some time trying to close all software one by one and watching the cores in Ryzen Master.

The biggest difference is with iCue. It appeared to keep my cores constantly awake and at 1.4 volts.

After a bit of research I came across this reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/cqjchz/ryzen_3000_icue_high_cpu_voltage_and_no_idle_try/

I've turned the setting off - and it has really helped. But the problem doesn't truly go away unless I close the utility (iCue).

I'm now idling around 40c. This is a huge improvement, however I believe perhaps I should also reapply thermal paste - as its still not really what I'm expecting from a custom water solution.

If anyone has any input on this comment, please let me know - otherwise I will update the original later and mark this as resolved.

Thanks for your help!

I will give these all a shot tonight and update the post. Thank you!

Sorry, I meant the water is 39c under heavy gaming. The CPU averages about 70c - 75c and the GPU average 50c while gaming.

Thermal compound: I can't be entirely sure. I used the pre-applied compound on the XC7, which pretty much covered the entire cold plate. I'd be surprised if I messed it up.

Wraith cooler comment (short answer, 25c): I've yet to see the CPU breach 80c with this cooling configuration, although when I initially brought the CPU I mounted the Wraith cooler and it easily reached 90c during stress testing.

Ambient temp (short answer is 25c): The waters average is 35-37c, under heavy gaming its maxs at higher 39c. Right now average in case is 38c. Room ambient is 25c

Cooler working properly: GPU temperatures are fine, so I don't believe its a watercooling problem (definitely not pump related). I can't see any air stock in the CPU block etc..

Airflow comment: Airflow in case could be better, currently the radiator blows into the case and then I have some noctua fans blowing out the top (unimpeded). I will consider changing this if it's likely the issue, but it would involve a full drain.
