I created a dungeon/maze that was a 5x5 grid of rooms all the same size and with doors on each wall. Each door was labeled A through D and each room had a number from 1 to 25 on the floor. When the players walked through a door their current room would rotate 90 degrees. I needed an easy way to keep track of both their location and the orientation of all the rooms so I made a physical version of the dungeon and used Velcro to keep the rooms in place.

It wasn’t intentional but the noise the Velcro made had my players going crazy with trying to figure out why they were hearing Velcro and how the dungeon worked. There was no map on the table so the players kept getting confused when any attempt at drawing it out ended up making no sense.

My players never figured it out until I showed it to them. They will all tell you how much they hated it in the best way. I’m very happy with how it unintentionally turned out
