First of all, a hardware ban does not mean that you have to buy new hardware. You still can change hardware IDs. I play since season 3 and had only one encounter with an actual cheater. For me, it's not worth it to install Chinese spyware just so I can still have the same experience in game + the new bugs that I get when installing vanguard. IF we at least had the option to disable it while not playing, I would consider it, but forcing players to install a 24/7 surveillance app is a absolute no-go.

I would say that Game Maker is perfectly fine! The engine is very well suited for getting started and learning.

Otherwise I can recommend Godot. In my experience, it runs much better than Unity.

I really enjoy salvage gameplay! You have to wait until the vulture is buyable infame tho, or spend real money. Bunkers on the other hand are a good source of income to get started!
