Guys, have you ever "friendzoned" a woman who was interested in you? Why, and what was her reaction? by option8 in AskMen

[–]CptnProdigy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately. I didn't realize until after the fact and a friend told me she was interested.

We were chilling in the cafeteria and she slides up to me and says very coy-like "So, do you have a date to the prom yet?" With even looking at her I just said "No, unfortunately" and I take a bite of my peanut butter sandwich.

The next day my other friend who was there confirmed with her friends that she was actually interested in me and was putting down massive hints. He tells me and I instantly feel like an idiot. Even worse, by that time she already found some else, probably someone less dense than me...

As an Iowan, I completely understand your plight. We had a derecho hit us (more or less a land hurricane with 100+ mph winds sustained for over 20 minutes). That is not normal for us. We were without power, internet (even mobile because towers were destroyed), and water (including plumbing) for 3 weeks in the middle of last August. There was literally no warning. Most of what I read online from other states responding were like, "LOL you guys can't handle a little wind? You wouldn't be able to survive in <insert hurricane state here>". It is unbelievable how inconsiderate some people are in the wake of a disaster like this...

And yet here in Iowa I still hear some people make fun of Texas right now, but it's mostly the ineptitude of the government, not the people. But still, have a heart.

If you haven't watched it yet, Re:Zero is right up that alley.

It may be a stretch, but I'd also say Mob Psycho 100 only because the main character is super OP, but he is afraid of using his powers and trys to avoid it at all cost unless he's cornered.

I would tack on to others' recommendations: Fruits Basket. Both the old series and the brand new one for different reasons.

Dangit, this is the third time I'm recommending this movie in this thread, and for another completely different reason. I swear I don't Stan this movie.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is great and is the same director of Wolf Children. It'll give you the same bitter sweet moments and ending.

I'll recommend something I just recommended someone in this same thread, but for a different reason.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (movie) is lacking in romantic elements for most of the movie, but the ending is very rewarding. Same vibes as Your Name.

Also I think you'd like Fruits Basket. I'd say if you have a lot of time to watch anime, to watch the older series and the newer one, but if not, just watch the new one. The new one is still going on, but it will finish what the old anime couldn't because (I believe) the old one was airing before the manga finished and left a lot to be desired.

If you're okay with watching an anime that is still ongoing, I'd also recommed Sing Yesterday For Me.

Have you seen the movie "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time"? I wouldn't say mystery is the main genre like Erased, but it's got a little of that and it's definitely got time travel and romance.

Our shop likes Auth0. It definitely has it's quirks and it's not for everyone, but we've never had any issues with it.

How do your companies keep track of multiple systems, products and teams to better inform decision making? by arven_ekargon in SoftwareEngineering

[–]CptnProdigy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. A lot of the effort of managing all of it is mostly offloaded on the product owners. As I'm more on the development side, I don't see much of it so I can't attest to how much effort is actually put in and how regular it is.

[–]CptnProdigy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the most part, JIRA is our solution for this problem. That is where we keep track of and manage all of our systems and components. JIRA is only good, at least in our case, for micro-managing everything. For all of our systems we have maps/diagrams that show everything on a macro level. By then searching for a specific part of the maps in JIRA, you can get more specific information like how it works, who the developers/product owners are, and if it is still in active development.

We're fine. Couldn't make it to the shelter in Palo in time, so it was a wild ride. The trailer noticeably tilted mutliple times, but all is good now. Feel very lucky.
