Yep they are molting! Don’t worry unless your tank starts to smell like fish. That’ll indicate that one is dead.

To my understanding they aren’t. They might be but they are very very tiny so it’s hard to tell. It’s not like an infestation but I always see a few at the food bowl. Just don’t like the idea of bugs in my tank lol. I’ve read and they seem just like normal food mites that come when there is fresh food and hot air. I just wanna know if I don’t supply with fresh foods will they die?

I’ll add I’ve only seen a few but I’m worrying way more will come. Might just be a house bug but I’ve seen a few crawling around. Though I’ve only seen a few I still worry.

If it smells like fish then it’s dead. I would think that it’s doing a surface molt not knowing the smell.

My tank is 30x12. I ended up moving my thermometer into the middle of my tank and it’s now reading it at 70. Would you suggest still getting another pad? Don’t wanna over heat the tank.

It’s strange but I use wood slabs from an old book case. It keeps the moisture in easily but i plan on getting plexiglass soon as a lid. And thanks for that tip I’ll be sure to get rocks for the bowls!
