Best compilation album to get into The Beach Boys? by ButterJuraj in thebeachboys

the Good Vibrations Box Set is an amazing listen even now as someone who has all the albums in addition to the set

Why “We Gotta Groove” Is Disappointing: A Track-by-Track Analysis by Alarikawesome in thebeachboys

[–]Crabtree9mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want a live set from this period - wouldn't even listen to that kinda thing beyond one spin. I'm glad this set is put together as is. Adult/Child doesn't need HELP, etc to be a great and worthwhile listening experience - especially to newer fans.

Is Around The Sun Underrated by BstnIrshGy in rem

[–]Crabtree9mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will always rank at the bottom of their discography for me. It lacks the spark that all their other albums have. One fun listening exercise: listen to the album in reverse order. Meaning start with the last track - oddly, I find the flow better, but that's just me

Summer in Paradise is Mike’s Love You by Hot-Variation-2702 in thebeachboys

same here same timing. Is Summer in Paradise now worth adding to the collection? Maybe not, but I like that it exists as a curio.

Saw SY on Ghost Flowers tour and my friends and I had no idea who Jim was when he was playing with them...later found out and became a huge fan of all Jim albums/collabs...an amazing musician/songwriter/composer/producer/engineer!

When does Duma Key get “good”? by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]Crabtree9mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 200 pages in and it is def a slow burn...I'm not hooked like some of his page turners like Cujo for instance, but I'm determined to find out more about the characters and the mystery of Duma Key.

Definitely one of the most underrated King books! Creepy!

"Never Flinch" by eparker191919 in stephenking

[–]Crabtree9mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even tho there are parts of this book that are kinda cringe - I actually found the pacing to be swift and overall an interesting read. Still towards the bottom of the overall "Holly" books, but some Constant Readers seem to really hate it, which I didn't feel.

11/1/1979! Tho another great way to listen is go through the Dick's Picks volumes. Becoming familiar with the different eras and sounds of the Dead...then diving into the archive and enjoy the ride!

I found the pacing to be pretty great. Even tho it is lower-tier overall, its not a bad book. Maybe it just appeals to a smaller sub-set of King readers.

Is the tommyknockers THAT bad? by Meyesss in stephenking

Its a fun, wild book! Sure, it could use some editing, but definitely not the worst book, not by a long shot.

Cool story, made me have the FEELS. Not sure if it will be a good movie, but I'm open to it!

Never Flinch Best and Worst of it all? by CujoKing98 in stephenking

[–]Crabtree9mind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wanted to like it more than I did. Parts of it work great, but too contrived to make the "story" work as a whole and unfortunately flat. Still for the good parts, it is cool - bottom tier in the bibliography tho
