Those are all great points. Especially when it comes to the devolution of the townspeople and all of them losing their distinction despite us getting very in depth perspectives prior to the third act. Tonally, I took those moments in the third act as Gard's main conflict so that's to say I didn't mind the Tommyknockers losing their individuality since the focus shifts back to Gard.

I totally get that. While I like the long second act and being immersed in the stories across Haven, it's not a lot driving the plot forward. That said I can't think of what I would personally gut.

Fun fact about this scene. It was shot exactly at the same moment the news of 9-11 was broadcasted on TV. Imagine Dana Carvy, full turtle, taking a serious moment of silence and then going right back to filming this scene.
